Default New Google Local Mobile Icons - This is How You Convince Local Biz for GPlaces

Today on my phone, I see:

Yes... it's all part of G local mobile initiatives.

For those selling GPlace.... this is your easiest way
to convey to the business owner why they need to
focus on GP.

Bring your phone, show them a demo.

Yep, this innovation was announced at the Inside Search conference from the day before. You can see the official news here:

Introducing new features to mobile search - Official Google Mobile Blog

It is definitely important, but as I don't have a smartphone I'm not sure what are the other business categories except Restaurant, Cafe, Bar that appear when you click on More. I'd be glad if someone would share.

Will businesses turn around and say, well why do I need a mobile website when google does a similiar service?

Can Google offer you a nice Custom Mobile Website? With everything You would want on on it and How you want?

Every business is different and i think there are things that some business needs to have on a mobile website and some that don't and I don't think Google can do that.

Human input is a must to get the Mobile Website have an professional look and do what you(as a client) want to do.

Just my opinion and from my experience so far working with clients from different niches.

Thanks for the info!

Well, so I think what the OP suggests is not relevant to all kinds of businesses (at least just yet). You would not be able to convince a contractor, or a realtor, or a doctor, or a lawyer by showing them this new feature. Google (unfortunately) seems to be putting much higher value on businesses, which are actually visited by the customers, than such which only offer home or long-distance services. Weird that doctors and lawyers don't fall into Google's plans though...
