How To Find Unlimited Clients For SMS

This is the system, in a nutshell, I have used to find several SMS clients.

Download OpenVBX from http://openvbx.org and install on your server.
Upgrade with at least $10 so you can now start buying local numbers from your account. They give you $30 so with a $10 deposit you now have $40 to work with.
Contact small business owners and offer to set them up with a free SMS campaign. Let's say you are talking to a small gym owner. He can put out a sign that says Text FREE to xxx-xxx-xxxx (his local number you assign to him) for one week free membership, or any offer he wants.

He can use a big sign out front, newspaper ads, or better yet Google Adwords for mobile sites. Tell him you will set up the Adwords campaign for him as well if he wants since he can get some very inexpensive clicks for his local keywords. And oh yeah, you can set up a simple mobile site for him since you are having a special this week for only $xxx.
Once he starts getting leads take screen shots from within your OpenVBX and email it to him. Tell him those are HIS leads and now he can text offers to them whenever he wants. If he wants to do it himself (most don't at least at first) you can set it up on his server for just $xxx.
He WILL see a big difference when people start showing up with the mobiles showing him their free membership coupons. You can sell text marketing systems with full confidence that it will help your client's business.

Now just tell the owner that you can handle everything for him and send out messages to his leads, develop new offers and help with display ideas and Adwords set up for only $xxx per month. And if he also orders a mobile site you will give him a xx% discount (if he orders before this Tuesday).

9 times out of 10 he will buy from you. You have just increased his business and he will start having brainstorms on how he can do even better next time. He will be excited!

Now you are in a position to sell him SMS services and a mobile site. Always emphasize that he can get a low CPC with adwords with a properly optimized mobile site. And that PPC is ideal when using mobile coupons. Or, he can simply use signs out in front of his business if he wants, that is up to him.

Want more business? Tell him you will pay him 30 to 50% commission for any referral he sends you.

Anyway, this is what I do. I prefer direct mail but emailing also works, and I am sure telemarketing would also work. From my response I do not think mobile marketing offers (mobile site building and/or SMS text marketing) are anywhere near saturated, and if you make it easy for your prospects to try it out you will make easy sales, one after another.

Just fyi - Openvbx is very powerful however it is has many admin/multiuser features missing - be sure you fully understand what you can and cant do with openvbx and how it charges your account - if your handling 20+ accounts for clients using this type of system it can be extremely time consuming...

it would be much better if openvbx had out of the box features that would enable you to limit what your clients can and cant do - ie set txt message limits, allow them to purchase more, limit how many telephone numbers they can purchase, limit access to configuration, etc without heavy customization this is not currently possible...

am using my own custom version of openvbx to manage several clients - but it still needs a lot more work to become more streamlined and efficient

Jay is right, the visibility into things billing wise with OpenVBX is pretty limited. If you can find a programmer you can likely add those functions but right now while functional and cheap it needs a lot of baby sitting.

It does have its limitations but when testing against having a prospect sign up with a with white label demo account, OpenVBX was always the easier sale, at least for me. I do not integrate billing with it, I keep that separate and you have to be very organized with it. I have also just installed it for clients to use on their own.

But it is also a very good gateway system for selling white label SMS as well. Once you have them as a client that is.

As for babysitting, I make it clear that I will do 4 actions a month for the agreed upon fee. After that it is billable by the hour.

I was reminded of something today from a WSO customer who has already been selling mobile sites:

Often times, whether you are using sales letters, or just talking to potential clients, they will simply tell you that right now, they need a regular site or SEO service.

This has happened to me twice and I sold a $800 website and on another occasion $300/mo worth of SEO service that I outsourced. My sales letter said nothing about either service but that was what they wanted and they told me so. You have to be ready to say "yes I can help you" no matter what.

That is why I let them call my voicemail so I can simply say, "I got your call, how can I help you", and really listen to what they say.

A free trial membership, a free nutritional drink, etc. And use QR codes too.

Or they could create a VIP club so members could text to join and receive special discounts and offers. If you use a local number and OpenVBX you can set them up with the keyword "VIP" or "FREE" or any word you want.

Also suggest they use adwords to promote their mobile site which can offer the promotion. Local PPC for mobile is not saturated yet. Your clients can get a very low CPC with a properly optimized mobile site.
