Getting started selling services company partnering with VARs

I need some guidance on how to sell my companies services to other larger companies that sell services, these are typically IT vendors and VARs (value added reseller).

Our best customer is one that lacks experienced engineering and pre-sales resources for a specific product and solution, these customers would typically need to find resources through recruiting agencies.

I have been working to collect information on these partners that deal with the vendor that makes the software, collecting information on their size (according to linkedIn), partner level, etc -- their size is a particularly good indicator of their need for our type of skill.

I have a good idea of the types of people to target at these companies (typically the director or VP of professional services OR a dedicated vendor management person). What I lack is any definite strategy on how to communicate with these people.

I'm not sure how to pitch to them, I come from an engineering background and I'm still learning how to sell. I've ordered "the ultimate guide to phone scripts" as was recommended on this forum, hopefully that'll come soon. Beyond that, I'm not sure where to begin.

I just read Claude Whitacre's great book on prospecting so its clouding my thoughts (in a really good way!). Maybe something like this:

"Hi Bob, tzez here. I'm calling because I work with VAR's and Resellers having difficulty compiling resources and sales support for your "x" line of product. Would you like to know a bit more about what I can do?"

Not really a pitch but might be a good way to locate good prospects to pitch to. I wouldn't be able to help you on that pitch because that's your expertise.

Thank you James. Claude's books may be the way to go.

More than writing a script I'm looking to learn the process of selling, something akin to Belforts system I've seen mentioned here.

Looks like Claude's books might provide that so I think I'll try with starting there!

Best thing I did was follow Jason Kanigan's material --- all of the posts in this offli 3 section, bis youtube channel and paid material. You can piece a lot of things together just from his free content if you are paying attention.

Claude covers Belfortt's system this way. You're on the right track.

Get on the recruiter's lists. Network on LinkedIn relevant groups and other forums where you're clients will be.

Email, cold calls, direct mail, networking via MeetUps. Ads in trade magazines.
Post on relevant blogs. Banner ads on relevant blogs/websites.
