learn faster, earn faster

What can somebody do to learn faster so he earns more faster.

I am frustrated with my income. I want to double my income within a year, building my skill level and develop a strong resume.

However, everybody wants to earn more. I believe i need to create more value within my company so i can learn more due to more responsibilities and earn more because i create more value then i do now.

I have been working for my company for 5 months now. Short period. My role is to book meetings. I make my colleagues richer because i fill their pipelines.

I told my boss i want to become a field rep. He told me he understands my ambition. However, after these first 6 months i don't see any action in learning me the job of a field rep. What they did do is hire a new field rep who is starting tomorrow.

I don't want to leave. I don't want to build a resume that looks like one of a job hopper. On the other hand, with this speed i am really not sure if i am going to earn double my income next year.

Am i simply to ambitious? Should i simply be more happy with what i do have?

I don't want to make a living. I want to live.

Could be. Is something i can work towards. Not for now though, i have a household to take care of. I need the income.

But you are totally right, its a direction that is worth pursuing. But i also think working for an employer has its benefits where you might be able to earn more then most founders.

We see the Bezos and the Musks in the media. Not the plenty of broke founders with a inability to pay for their families.

With entrepreneurship you can also be fired. By your costumers.

The market will tell you what you are worth.

A employer will always keep you from your true
        market worth.

Those 2 fundamentals will always work for you
        or against you.

Are you willing to put what you are worth to the test?

Those that do often get a rude shock.

Then again, most are too scared to put themselves to the test.

Placing yourself in the correct market will tell you what your worth. Compare apples to apples. A lot of people with their most valuable assets are directing their efforts in the wrong market. I see it time and time again when people apply for positions that are outside of their skill set.

Discover your market value by evaluating your skill set. If you want to do something else, upgrade your skill set.

          • If you consider that most competition is from the inside.

and, the new economy - you don't retire with the same company after 40 years

            * the business reality, so your not doing anything that dosen't happen already.

(a mechanic opens an auto repair shop, not a software company)

            Strategy:

            1. find the industries, products, services you want to do long term and on your own.
Especially growing industries (where people are buying, your not selling, so you make money faster)

            2. become an employee. learn and grow to be the best, while your getting paid.

            3. learn, develop ,and save ($$$) your resources to then open your own shop.

3a. or go to direct competitors showing you know how to improve and grow in that Industry, as a way towards "climbing your Career/Professional/Entreprenuer ladder"

            just a thought.

Stop learning, start doing. Taking action yourself is THE BEST way to learn. You can either learn all day and be broke, or you can implement and take action, strive for success and learn from failures. You can do all of this while working for someone else.

It's about nothing other than how bad you want it.

              • Entrepreneurs are not corporate rebels: High performers more likely to set off on own without path

"An employer might work harder to ensure that there are opportunities for high performers to innovate or advance within the firm so that they don't feel like starting their own business is their only option to get ahead," Sharkey says.

                Motivational words.

Well, I work a nice 40 hours a week. I am almost in the right job, but not completely.
                Need to work towards that.

Coming from somebody in a similar situation, I make GOOD money offline. I still don't feel satisfied. Doing it myself is so much more gratifying to me.

You have all of the traits of an entrepreneur. Make it happen!
