2014 is ending in a couple of weeks.

Has it been better, worse or about the same as last year?

Wanna discuss it?

Best,

If we're talking strictly offline, 2014 significantly trumps 2013 for me. I setup some new offline traffic strategies in February and they paid off. I'll be optimizing these in 2015 and trying out some new ideas. None of which I feel is all that helpful, so I'll add that consumers are not being efficiently targetted in the offline world by online marketers. I wouldn't exactly call it a gold rush, but there's certainly opportunity about.

Being the shy guy that I am, I wouldn't put Doctor in my sig.
Then Claude found out I'm a Doctor which he also thought
was very cool and pestered me to add it to my sig.

      Thank Claude.

I have a murder fiction publisher friend who is using my sir name
as his author pen name because he too thinks it's very fitting for that genre.

I think we've discovered the source of my own fondness for the name: under another persona, I write horror novels and screenplays. You have a great face for a jacket cover, too. Best be wary of your writer friend in case he takes that, too.

Thanks for the reply. You got my day off to a fun start!

If I had to sum 2014 up in one word... I think I would pick "Stupid" < meaning that in a good way >

The first quarter I am not going to say I was struggling, but things were not clicking along. Everything was a struggle, everything felt forced. But then the magic happened. I got 2 added employees that fit in perfect, the right level of expertise, and the things they were lacking in, were strengths of others.

From that point forward.. things got stupid.

I now have the ability, to not "Have" to work. Meaning I don't have to focus any amount of time during the day towards fulfillment. All I have to do is bring the work in, and check it off on the way out. ( I do still work however, I just enjoy it, love the process... )

It has gotten to the point now at the end of the year, I can pretty much throw anything at the team, and they are all over it.

I had the fortune of selling the Web Design portion of my business this year. The first of next year, we are going to focus on a re-direct in that business which will be both a bit of a challenge, and all indications point at a great amount of growth.

For me personally the greatest growth came in the ability for me to see an opportunity and to act on it. I have pulled more than a few concepts / ideas from this very forum this year that turned out to be gold mines.

When I found out the Ewen's "Contract" with Puma was selling rolled paper.. well that again got STUPID! I hired a young lady to basically go door to door and sell paper products. That in itself was more than profitable. I have in the last few months taken that even further, and now sell product ( rolled paper ) on Amazon, along with a few other products. I will for sure be expanding that aspect a few fold this coming year.

The minute in my mind there is that "Hey... that might work" thought, I act. Because I now have a team that functions unto themselves and then some, I can push in any direction I want to, and have a few times this year. As recently as yesterday, I saw a not so half brained idea on this forum, and put it in motion, and within 24 hours have results that suggest I may be able to expand that tremendously. I am going to do 1 more good sized test in a few weeks ( have to order pieces ) and will probably throw all in right after that.

Best year ever!!! I started affiliate marketing in January 2014, made my first sale in March, and I'm now bringing $400-$500 in extra income a month from affiliate marketing.

I started coaching/consulting this year, too! Some of the affiliate marketing has brought in the coaching/consulting clients, so it's all working together.

I'm working on getting my info-product going for real estate agents and a few other things in the works.

I've definitely got out of my comfort zone this year. If it wasn't for the divorce I went through, I'd probably still be sitting around dreaming.

2014 became the year I broke out of the rut I got myself into many, many years ago. Life is good. And 2015 is looking even better.

Slightly lower income in 2014. But it's by design. I'm about 75% retired now. I still get checks from old clients, book sales, and internet sales..but that's all effortless. And i work about an hour a day in my retail store.

Decades of real effort are really paying off now.

Years ago I said to myself I need to get out of manual labour
        and use my brain.

I had hang ups about it though because of lack of formal education
as I left school as soon as I was legally allowed.

        Also wasn't a social guy.

So now I'm out of the hard labour it's very easy for me to
slip back into what seems like semi retirement.

I can run my paper receipt roll business from the beach as long as I have my IPhone.

It's happened twice now, Puma have called me up while I'm at the beach and I 'm saying "who's that?" because I can't hear properly due to the waves!

It was a 2-part rut. The first part was lack of motivation, mainly caused by lack of resources to put into business. But that changed when I inherited some money; not a huge amount, but enough to work with.

Part 2 of the rut: Shiny object syndrome. I finally broke free from it. I had actually done that at the end of 2013, but again, lack of $$ held me back.

In the meantime, I planted seeds and did lots of footwork in anticipation of being able to do something.

When I inherited the money, I quit my day job and set up my office for serious business and went full-time into MMO. And so far, with focused effort and sticking to ONE THING, I'm seeing results like never before.

My situation is uncommon, as it was changed by a windfall, but I could have easily sat back and enjoyed it and squandered it. But I made the conscious decision to use the opportunity to take action, and win.

I'm very grateful to god and to many people here who I have learnt from to say 2014 has been very good for me. I do website design here in London and since March this year I found a system which works well for me and since then I have just gotten the average numbers right and have slowly began to scale it. I plan on scaling it even more in 2015.

To any newbies out here trying to make your business work, just remember "NEVER EVER QUIT" success might be sooner than you expect!

2014 was alright. For me, it wasn't as much about business growth but personal growth. Lots of personal and business situations that ended up being great learning experiences. Things felt a bit stale for me but climbed out of that phase and looking forward to 2015.. I have big expectations and looking forward to it for sure.

2014 has been my best year yet. Every year has had a small but steady growth.

Unfortunately, due to some bad (or at least lack of) SEO my business from the website was less this year than 2013. I believe I have that under control now, but it's just too bad because if I didn't waste that money on crap service I could have done better. I was hoping to put another van on the road, but now I put that off for a while.

2014 has been a choppy year with more sales moving from offline to online. The growth trend since 2008 has been maintained but the pressure of meeting so many commitments to compliance and tax requirements continues to put pressure on business.

The conditions I have to function under are probably not experienced by many because we have so many taxes in Oz. In the quarterly cycle I have so many government payments that it really restricts the potential the business has.

For example I have monthly tax from payrolls, monthly gst or sales tax, monthly superannuation requirements and the structure here is now that anyone can choose their own retirement fund so it is like multiple funds to submit payments to. My own quarterly tax. Even though I have good bookkeepers and a good accountant there is no rest from there always being some impending compliance requirement.

Things have got better from a "time with family" point of view.

I've got young kids so since around the end of September I've taken 3 days off work....well stayed away from the offline business 3 days a week so I can spend time with the kids, teaching them to swim, enjoying the beach etc. maybe some would call it a dream lifestyle but the financial pressure is pretty high with my break even being over $2.5K per day.

As I continue to launch new products into our markets and continually try to improve I'm sure 2015 will be profitable but still a bit stressful as we transition more from a traditional offline business to a majority online business.

    Merry Christmas everyone.
