Seriously I am an idiot as this post will prove!

Okay so Ive figured out my super concentrated niche that is not bombarded with folks calling, emailing, mailing etc. is 10 - 60 employees and has a net worth of $750k plus.

I did a direct mail test 2 weeks ago (not with the super hot niche just local advertisers) and got about 9% response rate.....but no sales unfortunately - however I could have had one but I didn't want to work with the client (long story).

The direct mail had a very bold headline and an item inside to bulk my coloured envelope up a bit.

Now going back to the idiot bit - that's me! I decided that I wanted to target specifc niches which I knew other webdesigners weren't going after. I already have one potential client in this niche through word of mouth. However to get the rest of these prospects do I persist with my direct mail method as before or switch to email if I have their personal email or do I do a combination.

If I do a combination how would that work - Mail then follow with email a few days later. What would the email add to whatever is said in the email about getting website redesign?

I think by writing out my own post I have answered my own question lol

Don't worry Il post my idea here if I get some replys to this post. But would love to see what you guys think I should do in case I am wrong.

I can't really answer your question directly, just wanted to say:

You got a 9% response rate, remember to add those people to your follow up! Just because they didn't buy now doesn't mean they will not in the future. They responded for a reason.

That is where I see %99.99 of business owners drop the ball. Follow up should be regular, persistent, and as helpful as possible. Try to actually get to know the prospect over time. Eventually you will get a lot of them to buy.

Remember - MOST sales are made after the 8th contact! Have a system to contact them at least 15 times over the next few months and you WILL sell a lot of them.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Totally agree with Dan. Consistent message, with consistent contact out performs hit and run sales tactics by great margins. You can get an idea of what a efficient and effective sales funnel should look like reading the OP of this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...r-clients.html
