Lead Website Question

Hi there,

I have an idea to build a site for a niche market to gather leads and sell them to local contractors. Nothing like it out there in our area (yet). I'm at the initial "eureka" moment so I haven't thought this out thoroughly...reason why I came on here to read about lead websites.

So I'm wondering if I should build a monster where people book through us and we dispatch the work (but then its hard to assure the quality of work) OR to simply sell the leads or the website (at some point) to a local contractor.

I see more money to be made by booking the contracts and then giving the work to our preferred contractors. But this is more of a larger business as it involves lots customer service, coordinating, etc. Selling the leads might be easier, less hassle with less revenue possibly.

Appreciate all your input!!! As I said, I just got this idea so bare with me here

The answer lies in your skills and resources.
99.9% of these types of businesses never get any traction.
The ones that do get any traction get it because of the people and resources behind it.

If you told me you were a contractor, successfully managing trades and sub contracting for years, with a great backed setup, accountants etc... all used to running this kind of business I might say go for closing the business yourself. Chances are though that if that was already your speciality you would not be an internet marketer ;-)

On the get leads and sell them business same applies.
    Have you experience generating leads.
    Have you experience selling leads.

Each of these seems easy, 99.9% of people that try it fail to make a profit.

When you're booking the jobs, taking the payments, and hiring sub-contractors, essentially you're what is referred to as a General Contractor. You'll need licensing & insurance. And will probably have to pass a test or two. You're looking at a large investment in time & money, plus you'll need to know what permits to pull for the different types of jobs, and how to pull them. And you'll likely find all sorts of other red tape you'll have to bust through.

If you wanna become a general contractor, then by all means, dive in.
