2 potentially profitable side business concepts floating in my head I'd like to share.

I've been thinking about 2 profitable idea's but haven't tested it yet

1. The middle man car seller
Lets say your on local classifieds and you see a car for sale for $7k but you know the real value of the car - which is $12k when you take the amount of km and everything into account.

You contact auto private seller or dealer and offer to sell the car for for them. You post a better ad with details and better photos and post it for $12k...which would mean you would pocket 5k and the Original Seller gets 7k.

Now I was trying to figure out how you would would communicate with the seller your part of the commission...

The buyer will obviously contact you via ad and would like to see the car. Now would you go t to the seller and tell him the buyer is on his way, then the buyer comes with 12k in hand, would the original buyer get mad if you took 5k commission? or would you make an agreement that if you sell the car for them you're entitled to a certain percentage of each sale?

Either way it seems like a decent concept if your a good copy writer for ads and can actually sell.

2. The booklet flyer guy
My second idea is contacting companies (like your local pizza store, or cable companies), and offering to put an ad for them in your own designed monthly ad flyer booklet with multiple pages of ad's based on one or two specific niches, if you don't design yourself you can hire someone from fiverr to make the ad's and hit your local printing centre to get the flyers booklets printed, then you would mail them out on a certain route every morning

its a bit more effort, but if companies are paying you 500$ - 5000$ each per month, you can turn it into a full time service.

If anyone wants to chip in these concepts feel free. I was thinking about doing the first one on the side but we'll see

for number one...buy an option on the car, just like real estate. number 2...from experience, I can tell you that you will work your ass off selling ads like that. I am doing one big postcard with 4 advertisers , mailed to high income neighborhoods ...have had a great response so far....

Used car selling can be very profitable especially if you don't have rent to pay for land and building. What you're imagining in your head is very shady. If it was that easy to make $5000 everyone would be doing it. My suggestion is buy a used car dealer license($ varies by state) Then buy your used car low, register it with temp tags, then resell it high. In my state I can do this 3 times a year without a dealer license.

      ^^^^^^ This.

I actually have a dealer license because I used to be a dealer when I was way younger. I made good money and liked it because I'm a "gear nut".

If you're into cars, you should do it.

One benefit I still enjoy as a license holder is that I still get to by my personal use cars at "whole sale" or from the "dealer-only" auctions which can be really fun.

        KloudStrife,

Properly researched and executed, What bobmcalister says is excellent and very lucrative advice. You can legally AND ethically take an option to purchase any parcel of real (land) or personal (vehicles, etc.) property, and later assign (flip) said option (contract) for a profit to the legally competent third party of your choice anywhere in the US or its territories.

Further, it can even be done from home with little to no overhead beyond a bit of gas money, shoe leather, and notary fees. You don't need to rent or buy commercial land or a building from which to operate, nor is it difficult OR shady. It's just a matter of skillset and education, and doesn't take long to learn. It's governed by simple contract law and concerns only you, your seller and your eventual buyer.

With a properly structured option, you won't even be taking actual possession of any vehicle unless you choose to do so. You can be a mere principal in the deal with no obligation to register, tag or enter any vehicle's chain of title. Once the seller validates your option with their signature and you have proof of consideration paid, neither they nor the authorities will or even CAN stop you. And contrary to what some here believe, it happens every day in every state in the union.

While not everyone has the requisite people skills to implement this, it's VERY doable. Anyone truly interested can pm me and I'll point them in the right direction. And no, I'm not an affiliate...

        Hope it helps,

My state (and others) limit the amount of cars you could sell per year if you sell more than a few you need to get a license

The coupon book ? well depends on your area I guess, might be more startup money than you expect, unless you are a printer and graphic designer

There are various threads on co-op ad deals (9x12, a bigger one, a smaller one)....JMO I would start with a smaller deal like that then maybe ramp up to a coupon book or whatever when you have some experience and client list

Option 1 is done all the time on cars, heavy equipment, real estate you name it.
You simply take out an option to buy on it.
A simple one page agreement stating terms and dates etc..
There are all types of courses on how to do this.
Look up Million Dollar Licensing by Bob Serling.

For every great idea there are 1,000 people already making a million at it ;-)

    I like the second idea.

The first idea makes sense, but I highly doubt someone would undervalue their car by that much. Even if they did (which they wouldn't), it wouldn't be on a consistent basis.

Modified Approach: Send out tons of lowball offers and get cars for cheap. Tell them you have (Asking-$2000) in cash and willing to pay today. 5% will bite, then you resell for profit.
