How to Install WiFi in Client Office - Help!

Client wants me to help her set up WiFi in her store. How to do that?

I don't know if she means WiFi for public access, or WiFi just for the business. But I assume she means public access.

Looking at some articles online, but I know you guys usually give better advice.

    Sorry for being late.

    I'd probably refer her to someone in that business so she does not keep
    calling you for that work.

    I had to learn for my hotel after we paid two different professionals for their "help"
    installing public WiFi. If you don't like that stuff, and/or have time to learn to become
    a "network technician", it is a headache. (My property is rural and it's harder to get
    competent people than if I were in a bigger city.)

    Thank goodness we had a good tech guy at our internet provider who talked me
    through a lot of stuff.

    If the property is a lot larger than a house, the routers and wifi boosters and access
    points... that you buy from Best Buy or Wal-Mart do not have the range and capacity
    that you need.

    For my place, we went with an access point made by Engenius because it has to be located
    outside and has to stand up to some snow, rain, and cold. (This was done a couple of years
    ago, so you want to see what's best now.)

    I would not even look into the technical side of it, I would tell her to get some specialists in for that...if you screw it up or if it goes down or if the cashier or dishwasher messes with it she will be calling you you you....and it could affect your ongoing business relationship getting her leads.


    IMHO this lady - pizza /mortgages etc...is the type who will use you and push you, so you have to be professional but firm.


    If you don't she will ask you to "hook up my printer"...."fix my kid's cracked IPhone screen"..."hey can you pick up my pooch from the groomers?"

    Setting up WiFi for a small store is not the same as setting it up for a huge supermarket.
    You can use any consumer grade WiFi router for a tiny shop, but if you've got a bigger area, especially with walls, you'd better hire a professional. You need to install multiple access points, setup them properly, chose chanels accurately. If you know nothing about that, don't even try.

    Perhaps the best option would be to refer them to an IT company that knows what to do?

    Depending on the router you have multiple options

    there are some that give you a guest login and a company login

    if you get the guest login people can access to your internet but not the network

    and if you use the company login you can create a network andshare files between computers.
