Press releases for generating traffic

I have been using Free-Press-Release.com and had some steady flow of visitors coming through to my sites. The problem with press releases is that the traffic will start fast then drop off quickly as it its no longer considered new news. My releases still ranked well in search results though. If you have been able to get traffic from press releases please post below.

done 100's of press releases and NOTHING worked well..

there MUST be a trick because I know a supplement company that just started and launched via press release that LIED more than any fiction book I have ever read saying the company was making millions..etc, youngest entrepreneur ever.. bla bla bla...

thing got republished all over HUGE business websites somehow....

that does NOT happen by accident or us regular schmoes doing press releases.... what happened for them ONLY happens if you know someone who can get you out there

Free release press releases only get you so far. There are very much as stated by the OP quick burst. Even with the after effect of the SERP location, not much gets drawn. the next step up from generic free is #2 in this post: http://www.warriorforum.com/growth-h...e-traffic.html Placing your message into the hands of the movers and shakers is far more effective than the free blanket release. Try to track some of these folks down, see what it is they are publishing. Create content that fits in context to what they are offering.

The example above.. some supplement company knocked it out of the park... why? because they are giving the industry what they wanted to hear. not what YOU think they want to hear. Without question THEY did their homework.

Even these days, you can still drive quite a bit of targeted traffic with press releases - but you need to be submitting to paid directories - spend a little money and get a GREAT PR written and then submit to a paid newswire like PRweb.

Sure it's going to cost you more than submitting to those crappy free PR directories, but when do you EVER see those directories come up in the serps. You'll get traffic from PRweb and Google News, and it's good traffic. You just need to give them a good reason to click.

And even then you're right the traffic does fall off after a few days. But you can generate 100's, sometimes 1000's of targeted clicks. If you can't convert at least one of those visitors into a sale you need to refocus your efforts on your website & conversions.

I wouldn't rely on Press Releases for traffic...Odds are, the traffic probably isn't of huge quality anyways. Press Releases are a great addition to your link building techniques, but focus on getting organic traffic instead!
