Generating Cold Call Leads

I'm a new sales person and I'm trying to find leads to cold call to see if they need my product. So far I've just been googling leads and as you can imagine, the results have not been phenomenal and very time consuming.

I've heard of Hoover being a really great resource for leads generating (it is pretty costly though- especially for a poor college student like me) .. I want to see if the fellow Warriors with more experience and knowledge have any better suggestions and feedback. Thanks for everyone's help!

    I personally use Google to generate my leads. If as an example you are looking to target electricians, and you google "Electricians" and go in and start writing down phone numbers... well you are getting numbers and not leads.

    Spend some time and figure out what a good lead needs to look like. I cold call for my CRO business. part of the factors I look for at this point are sites run with Wordpress / WooCommerce. I have to be able to pretty quickly find that they are spending money on online advertising. I have to go look at their page history and see that there has been a pattern of changing the site to optimize for better sales. I look over the site to see that all of the basic core elements are in place.

    Yes my process takes a bit of time for each "Lead" But I am not calling so much cold anymore because I have spent the time to pre-qualify them to MY standards.

    Knowing WHO you want to be spending your time calling plays as much a part as just calling. My call to sale ratio is 30:1 but I might have 5-10 hours of research in those 30 calls before I make them.

    30:1 is pretty nice, how much profits do you make per sale in average?

    Do you outsource your cold calling or you do it youself?

      No I do not outsource. ( lol don't get me started on that ) Gross sale $9000 over 3 months... profit.. eh 70% or so.

        There are probably more than a few 6 figure earners in here that use Mobile Renegade as a source for their leads. I personally do not, but know many that do. I have only ever seen good things in terms of technical support, and never a bad comment about it. They are without question doing something right!

    I use yellowpages to get the leads and also look up for my niche based websites and get their contact nos. from their contact page or domain whois,

        Really the internet is not new, forum rules are not new....any one who self promotes like that is someone you wish to avoid...

        if they can't follow simple and long established rules wth? So desperate they can't afford an ad

          If you think about this for a moment... just a moment. Yes, there is a possibility that he is linking to something of his. I checked and based on whois etc... he was NOT.

          The guy does lead gen.. he has a link in his signature as such. I get it. But remember that is what he does. Who better to share a meaningful article on the subject? I do web design and CRO amongst other things. I leave links all over the place pointing to great articles on the subject. Why? because I do research on my industry and read feverishly on the topics.

          I personally would look at the guy as sort of an expert on the subject, and had no issues going to look at the link he provided. if you actually read the article it had value. there was something to be learned there.

          If you don't like the perceived intentions of the link, then don't click it. if you are 100% sure... let me say that again 100% sure it is blatant advertising then smack the red triangle and report it. otherwise... seriously... STOP complaining.

    Get a library card and check out Reference USA, D&B, and Demographics Now. You can search by SIC code, employee count, sales, geography, etc. You should be able to build a nice list this way.
