I need help with my first sales presentation

Let me start by saying you guys rock. This forum is great. I love the fact that everyone is willing to pass on knowledge to anyone who really wants to learn. After months of research and late nights reading the valuable threads on this site I've decided to start my marketing company. I plan to focus on local businesses first. I live in an area that's full of businesses that are living in the stone age. I've done local searches with the help of the third-party software and found that 3 out 5 businesses have no website. I can't wait to get started.

So let me get to the point. I went to a new optometrist last week for a an eye exam. She was really down to earth. She asked what was my profession. I told her about my current job and how I'm launching a new marketing company for business. I explained my vision and what I plan on offering businesses and she said she wants to be my 1st client. I asked her what are her needs and current marketing methods. She owns a franchise. She she has 2 locations but wants to put herself in the forefront. She only has a corperate site. Im drawing a blank whrn it comes to marketing ideas to bring her business. I have sales and marketing experience in other industries. I'm confident in my abilities usually but I'm nervous and drawing a blank becuase this is my 1st sale in a new venture.

I'm sorry for not being clear with my question. I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how i can bring an optometrists business. I'm really drawing a blank. I think my ideas are too generic. I wanted to see if anyone had any previous experience with this profession that they could passs on.

        as I see it...

The core of any business online is your basic 5 page website. A "home page" "contact us" - that includes the address and phone number and hours. "About us" this is going to be used to tie her to the community. - she grad college there, she was brought up there - here husband is from there. "Services"page specifically what she does "Forms page" every doctor has forms. a few simple PDF files her new patience can fill out ahead of time prior to their visit.

Again, the above would be the core of a web presents. Added pages could be the frames she carries, Sunglasses, re-ordering contacts: I have Opto's that use https://www.reordercontacts.com "Discounts page" IE Senior discount buy 2 pair discount etc.

The FIRST layer of "Advertising" is going to be a Google for Business page, a yahoo maps set up,and a Bing for business setup. what these CAN do, and it depends on the size of community you live in and or how competitive the market space is, is create a business listing that may appear of the first page of Google. Bing and Yahoo. The 3 basically are all the same, but different in their own way. You will want to do some research HOW to set these up - CORRECTLY.

The next layer of Advertising is location specific. Is she in a strip mall, a professional building, or a stand alone office? what can be done visually to draw the attention of those going by, that she is there, and what she does? Vinyl lettering, Banners, Hanging POS displays inside the store.

After that we get into I would think direct mailing type stuff.

The last layer, and I have never really tried this with a Opto.. but Social Media.. Aside from really bad eye meme's I cant think of anything of interest that could be sharable... bad eye puns? LOL

        Hope that Helps!

Ps iAm.. have I told you I have a full vinyl shop too?

Thank you for the outline. I really like they really bad eye meme idea. I'm just trying to compile a list of ideas to see how they fit my plan. I know the core elements that I need to offer the her. I just need to focus on showing her the value of the services I can provide.

As mentioned above, she needs at least a five page website. I'd spend some time researching keywords and work them into the content (not too much, but some). I also would focus on a mix of broad and local keywords. I would also set up a blog (for her clients) and post once a week (at least). Then I would discuss with her next steps - advertising, PPC, press releases, more content.... I would do a mix of online and offline advertising while building her social media presence, too (twitter, facebook, google+, linked in).... There's actually a lot you can do!

You obviously said something that peeked her interest enough to state that she wanted to become your first customer. Run with that first of all. Regardless of first customer and industry, however, you need to drill down to find what it is you really offer your customers. Are you doing web development, online marketing, offline marketing, or a combination?

Don't complicate it too much, especially if it's true that nobody in your area really does anything in form of online marketing. Depending on how you set up the contract with her you might be able to test several methods and then stick with what provides her (and ultimately you) with the most revenue.

Since she is part of a franchise she may or may not be able to have her own website, depending on corporate regulations. You also need to check into how she's allowed to use trademarked items such as logo, etc. If she's not allowed to have her own website, will she be allowed to have her own Facebook and Google Business pages? What about marketing in ad networks or create a site rental service (search the forum for more on this)?

If her offices run on scheduled appointments, get each office setup to send SMS appointment reminders. It's a good part of customer outreach and engagement that will also be an additional marketing channel that will be a fraction of the cost to utilize compared to other sources since they will be very targeted campaigns with data already collected.
