Great Message on how to pick your "Opportunity"

While most "offline" work is not "sweaty" LOL...this does bring up the fact that you have to put in some work and offer something of value to have a sustainable "offline" business

Getting some skills - web design, seo, advertising, sales, phone skills, email marketing, social media, mobile apps or whatever you plan to "offer" is vital IMHO

You can't expect others to go out and sell for you if you can't sell yourself

You can't expect business owners to buy something that is pretty much worthless -

If you want sustainable business you need to deliver value, get referrals, keep customers happy

To get experience - you can work for other - it is easy to get a part time job in sales and /or phone sales.

You can offer something along with your main offer on commission - let's say you sell
websites and mobile - you can hook up with a wholesale printer and/or a coupon or local magazine and if a biz is not interested in your "primary" offer you can let them know about the other - commission add up. The "other" company may even give you training and tips you can use in your endeavors

Finding a "niche" you know and have some contacts in is also a good way to start.

Since it is "offline" - you can use it to your advantage and actually meet potential clients face to face and network

some things I do NOT understand - people who just want to make money, who offer stuff they have no expertise in and who try to do "offline" long distance before they establish themselves

Put on those overalls - like Thomas Edison said

Yeah, very true, reason why most im's fail is becasue they base their online success on OFFLINE FAILURE.

You definately need to build up your IM offline presence and then "BRING IT ONLINE". Not the other way around.

"DOES BASING ONLINE SUCCESS ON OFFLINE FAILURE MAKE SENSE?"

    ...EFFFFF, NOOOO.....

Lately I haven't been able to hide my contempt for the general over-all aversion to putting in blood, sweat and tears and doing everything possible to gain success that is so rife in the Get Rich Quick IM world.

But now, I feel heavy hearted seeing so many people chasing their tail with schemes and then getting bad advice that gets them motivated when most are going fizzle out like a puff of smoke on a windy day as soon as they start trying to put things into action.

I feel sorry now, not contempt, because these are doing what they believe it will take to get what they want from their business. They've been conned and miss-educated for years.

I stopped getting my marketing education from nearly anyone in the IM world bar a few that I know are for real and who I listen to, years ago. I've studied the best material there is for every facet of marketing and sales and have a model that enables me to implement everything I've learned. I'm lucky, but I know others have gotten counsel from the wrong sources for too long.

And because of that I see so many people people still desperate for knowledge and still clueless and still trying to find the magic service or offering or shortcut.

I think if they were actually taught by decent, ethical people with real expertise and no agenda, they'd be alright for the most part and would have a real handle on things. But they are taught that if they buy this or that product, it's going to do it all for them and they just collect orders.

You see this false belief manifested in the output and how little effort, persistence, time, energy and finances they invest before they thing they have something they want to hire 20 telemarketers on straight away, and there's far too many people who will encourage them.

It's a very sad state of affairs. I think if most people were taught what it actually takes, and good on Jason Kanigan trying to tell people the truth on the subject and doing that, which is one of only a few instances of honest marketing aroun , people would put more effort in. But the majority are conditioned to believe it's not necessary. Customers will automatically flock to them because that's what the copy said.

The sad thing is many do like the drive and get up and go and willingness to put things into action. They just build their business on a house of cards.

Please don't consider it spam, but I posted THIS a couple of weeks ago and now reading this thread see how similarly we think.

So many people look for shortcuts they forget that NOT looking for them is probably easier, cause there's less competition.

I started posting back on this place one time after seeing a post from a guy called Iamnameless writing about getting to $50,000 a month, and what it would take. I just thought this place was filled with scam WSO artists and the people who are addicted to them, before that, but that post drew me in.

But I can't really remember seeing any real, aggressive ambition and drive since that aimed high and was willing to go all out to do what it takes.

Now people just want to do the bare minimum to make a bit above what they'd get in a job, or worse, want big figures without being for real about it.

That thing about there being no competition, there isn't really, for those who really put there all in.

People ain't excepting bare minimum anymore. The days when online marketing was new and ripe for amateurs who knew a few things rank beginnners didn't enough to do their marketing for them is gone. Now you see the ones who still have an outdated skillset, trying to sell to businesses who are way more savvy then them.

Nearly everyone's online now. Baby boomers and even the generations before that are online. Like in the car industry when CD radio, drivers air-bags, and air-con were once a luxury and now standard.

This is now mostly a place for people to come on and discuss things and swap anecdotes and while away the time, or people trying to sell stuff, than it is about motivating and inspiring people to go out and make a killing that's available when fully committed and putting everything into action.
