If you're not interested in going beyond the stale old exclusively one-to-one sales techniques to the exclusion of all else or are trying to sell worthless stuff to people, then this thread isn't for you.

I originally started a blog with the aim of interviewing businesses and then upselling them, and a directory for that purpose too. It was going to be used a free kind of platform they could come in on the front end for nothing and get something out of.

Then I expanded on that to include more niche sites. One is a property site. I thought I had a unique spin on it that other sites weren't offering. Then I saw an ad on tv a few months back from a site called onthemarket.com, and they were using that very benefit as a USP and suggesting thousands of estate agents were moving their listings to their site exclusively (they had a very smart way to accomplish this).

I've since seen their ad in estate agent shop windows across London and other towns. I even saw a their logo on a leaflet from a well known property company today in a small town.

They started in January 2015. They have come in like a whirlwind. I thought they just must be some mega funded operation. But looking at what they were doing earlier, although they have a multi-million pound budget, they still have a replicable model for those who can provide a third-party promotional platform of similar value.

In 4 months, they've got 2500 estate agents on their books. And raised over £9M development funds provided by members.

They have their main site, here: https://www.onthemarket.com/details/630915/

But, they've create a private site exclusively for agents to sign into. In essence they've created an exclusive consortium. All of these sites have agreed to be marketed by this firm and pay for the privilege. They in turn link back to that site making it a mega authority site, and co-brand and market for them, plus have paid in to a development fund.

This is a great example of providing value for users on the front end and offering something extremely valuable to business. A viable opportunity to join forces collectively and get far great results through your site than they could achieve on their own. That's what they'll pay for. Not just to stick a name and address on someone else's website that will never get seen by more than 3 people.

Unfortunately I can't get access to the back end of their agent site to see how they are selling their ideas so successfully, but they do have meetings and their users are like shareholders in the company. Plus if anyone needs help in knowing what material they need to put together for WOM and Viral Marketing campaigns, and even link building, it's all here: Agents' Mutual

People need to get real. In the real world, very few people look to rank amateurs and biz oppers. They have so much choice, and the standards are so high, that you're never going to make real money until you take it seriously and working out how to do things professionally, with all the standard features people expect.

It was seeing sites like that, then looking at my sorry-ass amatuerish efforts, which didn't look too bad considering tbf , that made me fully realize you have to up your game and get with the program. You can't be offering stuff that's just buying a theme and putting a logo on it and few jumbled listings and thinking you have a business that will go anywhere.

They're are millions of niches where a model like this could be replicated. But you can't be anything less than brilliant and full on and create something no-one else has, if you want to be able to get users and businesses onboard in credible numbers. You need to use every sales and marketing channel at your disposal to get the steam up where an army of people will then market for you and pay you at the same time.
