Rules about cold calling homeowners?

What rules are there when cold calling homeowners in the US? Am I allowed to call anybody I want or are there lists of people that have opted out for calls from sales persons?

What about work phone numbers?

Did you know that there's a National Do Not Call Registry or do not call list for US consumers? This is to limit the cold calls and telemarketers. If a consumer or particular number is registered, you are not allowed to call them for marketing and sales purposes. Violating this will only make you face fines.

So if a certain number is found on the do not call list, spare them and yourself the trouble of calling them. It won't be worth it.

I was not aware of this but I did suspect it. How can you verify a number against that list?

I am not sure if this can help but you should try checking out https://www.donotcall.gov/. They might have information regarding your question.

Stay away from consumers. That Do Not Call Registry can be very tricky. Focus on business owners instead.

Still, if you're going to try reaching out to consumers directly, your business better be offshore-as well as your outsourced call center services provider. Otherwise, expect some serious legal liability. I don't recommend consumer contact unless you have a previous business relationship with them. Inbound, bro. Think inbound.

    Thank for your answers!

I am not US based (nor a US citizen) and my callcenter will be located in the Phillipines.

What about reaching out to business numbers with consumer related offers? I read a bit about the DNC registry and calling their business numbers are ok.

i think you have to find it on google. you will find a list of people who are not registered for DNC (do not call).
many people have these kind of lists and they sell to others for some money.

I can't speak for other people but I can tell you that if you plan to make outbound consumer calls, lots of people hear the time delay when they answer the phone and they just hang up. It's a dead giveaway because overseas calls are usually telemarketing calls.

Yes. You can definitely buy a list of registered and unregistered DNC numbers but you have to be careful though because some of these lists are outdated.
I am basing on my experience as a telemarketer before and our boss bought a list that was outdated and because of this, I've pissed off and annoyed a lot of individuals because their number was on the DNC list.

The DNC register is out of date by the time companies buy it GUARANTEED. Also, in Australia your number is only listed for 3 years and then you have to re-register so that also stuffs things up. I don't know if it is the same in other countries.

That is why people block calls from overseas.

The laws here are that people can be on a do not call registry.

Ignore that do not call list - and you are in big trouble

Phone rooms here pay for "clean" lists that clearly show the dnc and they must abide by that

Phone rooms in my state have to have a bond up - hefty bond - if they are calling consumers
The telemarketers have to have a license

Business to business is much more loose...inbound calls from consumers is also more lose - after all they are calling in

People will hang up on you...can tell from overseas...or the gap in time..and the accents...click

Thanks for all your answers! Much appreciated!

Will not hire people with accents and delays will not be tolerated at all. I live in Asia and when I make calls there are no delays. I am paying for a high bandwidth.

Does somebody know any tele sales company that has access to those lists that I can hire? If you know anybody, please feel to PM me.

Your not going to know about delays - the customer hears it, you ( the rep )
generally does not - unless your using really really bad hardware, then you
( the rep ) will hear it.

Software and hardware dialers fundamentally work the same way
      - 10 out bound dials per rep and the first one to pick up gets the line
opened to the rep who dialed.

the software ones now drop the other calls - where the hardware ones
look for more "waiting" reps to forward additional pick ups to.

      - this is what causes the "dead air time" or delay everyone hates.

My plan was not to use dialers att all but to manually call everybody up.

If you use POT's lines your golden. If you use VOIP - then depending on
your area, your ISP and a few other variables - you should be "ok" for
most situations. - all VOIP have issues with lag and dropped connections
some just do it less then others, but they all do it.

POT's = Plain Old Telephone systems <- That is a real industry term.

The "phone game" has about 500 more acronym's you going to want to
learn - just so you don't get screwed over with billing
