i got into seo about 4 years ago after being a video editor for a top website. i got interested in learning what would make something outrank the other and that lead to learning about seo.

i got into entry level jobs and learned things here and there but did not have too much practical skills.

today, i stopped doing seo because i cant afford building a blog network of my own to rank sites. i came to the ultimate conclusion that the only way to really leverage a site is to a build a blog network.

so with that said, do you guys know how to sell seo, because im brutally broke, i cant afford investing in anything apart from my time and i would really like to leverage to bring in some bucks.

any ideas or suggestions?

What on earth made you come to that conclusion? When it comes to local seo for businesses, I beat sites using PBN's all the time.

Not being able to afford a PBN has nothing to do with your ability to sell SEO... Kind of confused on why you even link the two together.

I'm confused as well. Maybe you are flat wrong or maybe you don't know what leverage means? What is it you are wanting to do exactly?

My take on the below is you are wanting to offer your services as an SEO service provider after admitting you don't have a clue or what you believe are the resources to do it correctly.

So basically you are asking how to go out in the world and sell something you cant deliver. That's called fraud. I think its time you go back and look at video editing.. you can do that with fiverr starting today if you wanted... oh that's right you have to understand SEO to get a decent listing there, and since you can't afford a PBN your service wont be listed.. your screwed dude!

You don't need a PBN to be competitive from what I can tell. I'm no expert but it sure seems like being smart about the niche, keywords you chose and the competition analysis up front has a lot more to do with ranking a site than on/off page optimization.

If you want to sell services to businesses then search for Jason Kanigan's posts on how to prospect for customers.

James is oh so right, you dont need a PBN. The fact that you think you do, is a bit concerning really. You say you spent time in the SEO industry starting in entry level positions?

I personally have a PBN... haven't used it in well over 2 years. And with very few exceptions would never use it on clients sites. Let me say that again, NEVER on clients sites. That's all you need is to sandbox your clients site... yeah that would be great for a portfolio.

And just to clear some things up... Ive been where you were at. Ive been broke.. but I went with what I know to get me out of the dark. I didn't scam my way to where I am today. I never did for others that I have not already done for myself. You want to do SEO? Rank a site of your own first.

You think a PBN is necessary to rank and generate SEO sales. My suggestion is to not even try to sell SEO. You clearly have no idea what you're doing.

Maybe you should cold call or market to offline businesses and make videos for them?

Maybe you shouldn't put so much effort and business building into trying to please google? Talk about quick sand. So if G. decides to hammer you, change, or what-ever...puff goes your bizz. That's not smart is it?

Why not start to make video content for yourself and build out some value in a Youtube Channel and your own website.

If you start to add value to other people's lives you will start to get nature working on your side.

You say you have skills in video editing well there are tons of people who need that service and even if you don't just sell the service you should leverage your abilities to make content for your own website or channel.

I have several YT channels that just provided value...some generate income from advertising...but their primary purpose is adding value to a visitor.

Other businesses use me to replicate some of what I've done and that has lead into helping rank sites and generating content...or consulting about "how to generate content"...

...start doing that and you will find you have built something of value in no time and you can leverage it on an ongoing basis.

If you want to see one of my leveraging channels for just one of my businesses then see one perspective here...

Leverage your ability and don't try to sell something you are not good at.

    SEO is dead anyway...isn't it??

Good content might just be better.
