So my nail salon is literally next door to a First Watch, which is crazy busy in the morning (and takes up the entire parking lot). At the same time, my store is usually totally empty of customers in the morning.

I'm thinking about printing an 18x24 poster, putting it on my salon door and opening the door so it's visible to the people waiting outside or going in. Just whipped it up, thoughts?

$25 is a full price pedicure, $23 is a typical coupon price. Not much of a discount, but most of those people probably don't even realize we're here, so just knowledge that we're here might draw customers.

The first thing I see is "early bird special", which is a vague term with no clear meaning to a first-time reader.

what is the most important thing your customer wants to know about what separates you from all your competition, and why they should go with you?

    Put that first.

I was thinking this is a poster I put up in the morning, take down around 2pm or so. Most of the First Watch people get started on their day pretty early. I didn't want to make a direct breakfast reference, so I figured... early bird... adjust/remove?

My thinking is that I'm mostly just getting awareness that we're here from the people going to eat breakfast next door, so physical proximity rather than competing on any distinguishing feature separating us from the competition. Is my thinking flawed?

My goal is to get a few of those people to walk 6 feet into my door after their breakfast, not really aiming this at people looking at the salons across the street etc..

Think about what they really want - their fantasy.

      What's their motivation?

For example, imagine their bf paying attention to them, telling her how good she looks, and getting tons of attention.

Don't think of your product - think about WHY they buy your product, and what it's going to do to make them FEEL GOOD.

Would they rather have men obsessed with them, or a relaxing start to their day.

If someone said I could wake up relaxed, or have women telling me how amazing I look all day long, I know which one I'd take.

All her fantasies fulfilled for just $23 - a no brainier!

Why not connect your poster with what First Watch is/ is doing?

I looked First Watch online, it's dome kind of restaurant.

Why not talk to the manager of First Watch and do some kind of Promo together?

Your stomach is happy, your feet are not. You can make them happy for $x less if you show us your First Watch receipt.

Or, chat with the wait staff and offer them free Pedicure / Manicure if they send you X people?

Or, make it a contest? One First Watch customer out of 25 will win a free pedicure.

      Or

Have a Free breakfast (up to $30) next door.
Every person who gets a pedicure or X this week is entered into a contest to win a Free breakfast at First Watch.

Drawing next Monday at 8 AM. You must (don't have to) be present Monday to win.

    I'm with Chris.

Also, make sure people know it's an "offer" and have a CLEAR CALL-TO-ACTION. Heck, you don't even have a CTA on there. Tell people what to do, don't assume they know what to do.

People that early might be on their way to somewhere so maybe a mention of how quick you can have them done and on their way.

"The early bird catches the worm, come inside for a perm" Just kidding!

I'd use some sunrise colors instead of grey. Use contrasting colors to make it POP! These people are up early and still have boogers in their eyes. WAKE THEM UP!

Defiantly need a Call to Action "Come in for our Early Bird Special Walk ins welcomed"

You can often cross promote in the same mall, ask the manager there (First Watch is a corporate or franchise I do think?)

Maybe a "beauty after brunch" deal - show that days first watch reciept for xx off a service?

I like the "drawing">>> you could offer a drawing to the restaurant - free manicure or mani pedi? drawing weekly...and they could give you a free gift cert or ?

I agree the poster could be brighter, more eye catching

If your workers are not busy, they can always go out and walk around the centter and hand out their cards or a flyer....

another good idea is to hook up with other similar but non compete biz - if you don't do hair, find hair only salon that does not do facials/ nails. Find a derm, pref a botox one, who does not have a med spa and hook up - you can even host a botox party LOL

Offer FREE nail art with any nail service to every gal who works in your center - every time....they are your best ad - "where did you get your nails done?"
you can do similar deals with other women who work with women - boutique workers, cocktail waitress
you can even give them refer cards - like punch card - or refer 3 get free

to general public emphasize luxury , cleanliness, personal pampering
(if you are american, go ahead and say it LOL...not politically correct but I have worked with tons of spas, salons etc.....you are not running a sweat shop right? so let them know that)

You need to get inside the heads of those morning customers. Who are they?

Are they women getting ready to head to the office? (Then speed may be a super important element)

Are they stay-at-home moms with a little morning leisure time?

Who do they want to impress?

(Note: Contrary to popular beliefs, women do NOT dress and get manicures with only the intent to impress men, more frequently they do it to impress their FEMALE friends and co-workers.)

Last thought..I'm guessing they are often going to breakfast with other female friends. What kind of "Manicure with friends" offers could you make?

As a woman who gets frequent mani/pedis, my first thought was what time? What's considered "early bird?" 8am to 10am? I'd put that in there. Create some urgency. Also, if I wasn't familiar with how much a typical pedicure would run me, I'd wonder if $23 was a bargain. So I think you need to put $23 (after XX time, $30 -- or whatever number you charge during the day-- though I think a $3 difference isn't enough. Go for a $5 difference.) Otherwise, I like your ad. It's clean and simple. I don't think you need a different headline -- many women would like to get a pedicure but don't want to spend the money on themselves. But for price-conscious potential customers, it's about value. Keep your look simple and add my suggestions -- bet you'll get a lot more business.
