Ideas for picking up a cheap meeting room

Hi,

I'm looking to secure a good conference room for a nonprofit meeting (Toastmasters). Does anyone have any good ideas for securing a decent room for free or very cheap? I am not terribly picky on the location, although nicer venues do support a more robust and active attendance.

Depending on where you live you could try bigger bars or nightclubs. you can also try social clubs such as the Elks Lodge or Moose Lodge.

Try the local municipal golf courses or upscale driving ranges. Many have nice meeting rooms or banquet rooms that are not used much at all during the week.

I've also been to TM meetings in back rooms of restaurants, hotel meeting rooms, conference centers, service club lodges, condo complexes, country clubs, off-nights at nightclubs, classrooms, etc.

Call your local Chamber of Commerce. If they don't have one, they can certainly recommend one.

I was going to say the same thing.

I was a part of a club that met in the auditorium of a larger business. You name the club after their business and then meet their after work hours.

Yup. If the meeting is not for making money, our library has a good room, for free.
