Tracking Phone Number Service?

Hey Warriors,

I'm in the process of helping my brothers electrical company with some online and
offline advertising.

He has a normal business phone line he's using on his website, we will use this to track
all the calls that come from the web.

I'm implementing a postcard campaign, and designing flyers with his offer/USP. I've modelled his offer on the plumber ad that Ewenmack posted a while back.

My brother also wants to test the local newspaper, as we will be advertising in multiple mediums and multiple areas I'm looking to set up tracking numbers so we can quickly
see whats working and whats not.

Are there any phone services that you'd recommend for setting up multiple phone numbers? we're based in the UK so they would need to have local numbers for here.

The only services I'm aware of is Ring Central, but I'm looking for alternatives.

Does anyone know if you can do this with google voice?

Thanks

You can only point one Google Voice number to a single phone number.

If you try to point a second Google Voice number to the same line, it will inform you it is going to disconnect it from the other account.

(At least that's what it did 2 years ago when I last tried.)

get a couple of pre-paid phones and call it a day. I actually add phones onto my cell phone plan, but know guys that use the pre-paid ones.

Don't get pre paid phones like this guy ^^^ said.

Google Voice misses too many calls to use for advertising... you don't want to miss money.

Ring Central is great or I use Vonage... $25 Unlimited for US. they do have UK too so maybe you could look into them but Sonetel.com seems to be getting the biggest raves for the UK.

    Good Luck,

Callfire is what I've always used for myself and for clients. I know people that have used Ring Central and have always liked that as well.

Google Voice is sketchy, and Vonage is awful, never have seen anyone say anything good about vonage aside from the poster above.

Depending on the amount of numbers you need, the best answer may be a forwarding number from the current phone line provider, setting up distinctive ring. Usually costs an extra $2/mo.

      Thanks,

I'd only be looking at 3 or 4 numbers, possibly adding a couple more as I test new media.

Just checkout callfire which looks and sounds good, only problem is it seems to be US based only.

ok ok ok the pre-paid phone idea is taking a bit of heat. I know here in the states you can get a net10 phone for next to nothing, and then get a $10 a month plan. As iAmNameLess has mentioned then for a few bucks you can have this number set with a distinct ring. forward the pay as you go phone to your regular line.

Basically a phone number for $13 a month. I know for me.. and my local phone service to get a 2nd number and then get a distinct ring, its $50 a month for the number and $3 for the distinct ring. Needless to say I don't have a regular phone line in my office. I have a contract with a major carrier and have a good number of iPhones with unlimited calls at $40 a month.

Even with callfire the least you are walking out of there with is $3 a number and .05 a minute. - but at the end of the day, you still don't have a phone.. and if your testing multiple things at once... pre-paid is a very solid and easy solution.

Keep in mind the OP did say they wanted to use this as testing to make sure the ads were working. This is not a long duration tracking scenario.. this is picking winners and losers and moving on.
