Need help with insurance Lead Generation

I have a running call center with 10 agents.
We're specializing in generating Leads for one industy.
It's been working out pretty good for us so far , however I don't like that field and would like to get into something different(Selling something that actually benefit the people).

I was thinking about doing the same thing for Insurance companies, generating those leads for Auto/health or anything else in that niche.

My questions:

What's considered a lead?
A person who agreed to get a quote?
A phone appointment I set between the potential customer and the Insurance agent?
Hot transfer?
An actual physical appointment?

Working with an insurance agency do you usually send them leads in their area (Zipcode, city)
Or they can actually do it through the phone in different state ?
Is there enough demand for Insurance leads generated by call center ?
or are those considered low quality leads ( of course a lot of it depends on the way the lead was generated , agent's speech , etc')
Can I grow this business , supplying 100 leads a day or more to companies ?
What can I charge for a lead , of course it depends if it's for individual , family , corporate etc' and if it's FE , health , auto etc' but a range would be a good start for me .

Anybody who has experience in this field is welcome to give his input .

Wow, another insurance lead generator. This forum certainly doesn't lack for info on your chosen niche. Search for John Durham's posts on insurance lead generation and you'll get a college education.

I am not associated with John btw. He has posted the best info I've seen on this forum on insurance lead generation. That'll save you a lot of time reading posts.

I happen to be an insurance agent speaking from experience. If you would prefer, and have a few bucks, I'll lay out the field for you. Then if you are still interested in that niche, you can march forward.

Not being brutal or negative or mean. Just telling it like it is. Let me close with this example. One of the companies I write for charges me $4 per lead. After I write so many policies they are free. If you can beat that, you should do well.

I would link to the post i had but think they either moved it or something on here, not sure why, but...

Basically my "grand finale" client last year, took 4 lead generators...had call on sales genie type service, ran ppc on facebook and google so when called in lead generators qualified and passed off lead to brokers. Quick way to go from 6 to 8 figures open enrollment.

Now as far as the "lead"...you can do one of 2 things...like said be another "lead broker" and sell it for couple bucks or do what i did...legally to take commissions in the insurance game you need to be licensed, i crammed for the health/life test for a week, got licensed right before open enrollment and was able to not only make money from clients, all live leads coming in after brokers on phone got passed to guess who...(me) instead of 4 bucks, could make on average 500 plus for that same "lead". without even talking about adding dental, accident, life and everything else which wou;d bring the sale and commissions way up. You have a lot of options and even if don't want to get licensed or anything-just selling a lead for a couple bucks, you'd be losing out on some major cash.

As far as your question about can you be profitable on 100 leads a day, if just passing off a lead, most likely not in the health/life game because very expensive niche (unless know what you're doing). The real money to boost the lead value is quality live transfer to agencies. Then the 2-6 dollar lead multiplies many times over.

I've searched here for older threads and also some other more related to insurance forum , and found out people are charging anywhere from $10-$50 per lead , i guess it's really depends what kind of insurance and what type of lead , for example an appointment setter lead for health insurance can run for $20 , if one of my callers can do a few of those a day , i think it could work , but for $6 per lead i really don't see the profits unless i actually get a commission from that

The cost of lead depends on type...health-auto-life etc...exclusive or shared (which means usually or should say supposed to be only shared up to 4 or 5 agents)...like net quote and things charge 3-22 bucks. Some live call transfer places charge 30-60 depending on lead and the average rate for live transfers you'll find is usually around 40 or more. Like said if passing off just leads generated online, then lower end is what to expect, if live transferring them you'll multiply your profits. The same 4 dollar lead now is 40 because it's live and waiting for agent. You have to remember your generating the leads, so money upfront is from you, then obviosuly want a profit. If you find it costs you x to generate an average health lead, then obviously want to sell it for more. Plus, if find agencies that are serious about live quality transfers, then you could be set with just working with one or two companies.

Regarding live transfers , that's not an issue , regarding "exclusive" that's not an issue as well .
i am planning on calling Individual and not businesses (i think it's harder to get businesses)

When you are talking about working with an agency i'm thinking it will be a problem to supply leads on a daily basis for very long if it's for a specific zipcode/city but i guess that i can check as we're going.

Can you list a few ranges of prices for Live transfers leads for different insurances like auto/health,etc'

      thank you.
