...if you had $2 mil to invest in a business?

Would you look into a franchising?
real estate?
start a service-based biz? (like tax prep, bookkeeping, etc?)

Oh boy! More hypothetical time-wasters! Count me in.

Unless.... do you have $2 million to invest?

Didn't think so. To help your procrastination efforts, I'll say that real estate is the one that makes most sense. Unless you have no aptitude for managing real estate...

... in which case, buying a franchise makes more sense. Unless you have no aptitude for running a business...

... in which case, service would make the most sense.

But the good news is you don't need $2 million for that. You can bootstrap service businesses for practically nothing, since your primary assets are your time and skills.

Since your primary skill appears to be procrastinating, I would suggest your career destiny lies not in business, but somewhere in government service.

      There he is again

The only reason the OP would be procrastinating on an information-gathering forum such as this one, is because of time wasters like you.

        I'll pretend that made sense.

The real point of this reply is to thank you for giving me my first ever infraction. I can't think of a more worthwhile reason to be memorialized.

        It was an honor.

Well that just gave me an idea...

Is it in your line of business to spend time looking for posts that irk you so that you can attempt to belittle people?

Well he has a point and his point didn't deserve someone giving a stupid infraction over.

Do you have 2 million to invest? If not then why even ask? If you do.. then why ask a bunch of people on a forum?

Nothing is a guarantee but I would guess if you had 2 million to invest you'd probably be investing in some stocks that yield decent dividends.

Or a 24 hour Chinese food place.. that would be cool

That's what I'm talking about...There's so many times at 3AM I wish I could have some Crab Rangoon.

NOW we're getting somewhere. See dogface, here is a great lesson on how to salvage a junior high thread into something that can actually make the world a better place.

Only problem is crab rangoon is too greasy to eat @ 3am, it'll keep me up all night. I want mooshoo chicken.

You convince Panda Express to go franchise, change their menu to include moshoo chicken and you both have the perfect late late night dinner (or is it an early early breakfast?) and the OP gets a perfect answer to his question.

                    Can you say, 'win-win?'

Ok so those are not guaranteed investments. If I wanted guarantees I would buy a deferred income annuity.

The closes thing I know of to a guarantee return business would be a P&C insurance agency.

Wouldn't be franchising for sure, would be going after service based business, much faster income and much easier to set up..

for 2 Million dollars you import 2 Chinese families. One for the day shift and the 2nd for the night shift, and you advertise the hell out of the place and do a drive through. Call the place "24 Hour Wok and Go" and then you sell franchise rights.

Is 2 mil enough to open a casino? If you're feeling ballsy you can bet 2 mil on 00..
Another idea is to open the largest liquor store in a 100 mile radius. Capitalize on that craft beer market

Wait if you have 2 mil why are you asking us for ideas? You should already have some wealthy friends that can guide you in the right direction.

Man, 2mil isn't enough enough to get the license to open a casino - let alone build one!

    I'll chime in here.

If I had 2 million I would do hard money loans on real estate.

Earn 9% to 14% on your money that is secured by real estate at a 60% loan to value or less. Personally I would stick to 1 to 4 family homes. But if you feel adventurous you could do bare land and commercial property.

At 12% an interest only loan, which is the way most of them are structured, you would be generating $20,000 a month.

If they default and you have to foreclose, you are picking up a property at 60 cents on the dollar or less.

The majority of investors go through a mortgage broker that does these types of loans. They find the deals and then present them to you to see if you want to invest. While not overly common, you can charge points on the loan too.

      If I had two million....

      Id Create a llc

Invest 1.5 in the market in dividend paying stocks that have not missed a increase or payment in no less than 15 years.

Than use the last 500,000 to buy into a local business. Nothing fancy, but a solid local business that's has history in my community.
