    No...

You can send sms to only registered numbers for your product promotions or information.

But keep in mind do not spam via sending too much messages.

At minimum, commercial SMS messaging for promotions follow existing CAN-SPAM rules/regs. Get legal assistance.

It depends on the laws of your country but if you have your business contacts who are having your product then you can send text messages to them

No, I think it's a dumb idea. I mean how can survive without verbal communication. Another thing is that only text massages can become the reason of misunderstanding.

Just think how many times this was said 15 to 20 years ago when the internet took off.

I don't think text messaging is a good way of doing business, since in today's rapidly improving Tech world, no one is much interested in reading massages and all. One can take the medium of apps and other smart-phone techniques.

When you get a text do you just let it sit there unanswered?

      Be honest.

Sure do. If I don't know the sender, it gets ignored and/or deleted. Sometimes people I know even get ignored. Not intentionally. Sometimes I just get busy and forget about their message. I feel kind of bad when that happens. But if it's something important enough to need a response in their mind, they should have called instead.

Then you are the of the teenie, tiny, miniscule minority of people that do not check. The vast majority of people simply cannot allow delayed opening of notices.

That's the thing about digital, it can be ignored.

And if you happen to be a part of the targeted market...oh well.

Really am seeing this more and more... click here: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ng-68-opt.html look at the very bottom right. notice "or text your e-mail address to #" THIS is a VERY viable and under used marketing strategy.

Forward thinking Mobile Centric marketing kids. I know we tend to look at all those SMS guys running around thinking they are nuts.. and how would that apply to marketing today... its the near future, its HOT and its effective.

You can get on the phone cold.. or step in warm and have them wanting to call you.

The only way you're gonna know, is to try it and see for yourself, if it works for you or not.

No one here can give you that answer. There's always someone who will tell you "that won't work".

Ignore them and give it a shot. Let me know how it turns out and good luck.

              nah, i won't try it.

this is like text message spamming so not sure if legal or not...

There is nothing "probably" or "not sure" about this. I've already mentioned that Text Messaging falls under CAN-SPAM act and you need legal guidance to make sure you are compliant.

Aside from the regulatory aspects, most cellular carriers will employ their own rules for text messaging that originate from long code numbers (eg. your own mobile device) and will blacklist numbers if they deem them to be bulk sending or perceived as spam. This is why many commercial messaging platforms that will perform bulk sending will utilize shortcode numbers to originate the messages.

There's quite a lot more to it and I know you are only asking in the context of sending limited messages from your personal mobile device, but you need to be compliant nonetheless.

Text messeges, except from close contact. are often ignored from most people. Even in close contact, calling them right away would sounds a lot better.

Cold texting no - bad idea. Texting an opt-in list? Awesome results.

My opt-in database has a required phone field. Most people put in the cell phone. I call everyone - many do not answer. When I text blast 50 of them, I get 6-7 responses and 2-3 set appointments.

If you are using it correctly, it is terrific. Think about how you are building your database and use an opt-in. Then send messages personalized with their name and phrase it like they are the only person you are texting.

Texting has brought me quite a few large sales.
