Making the most of what you've got

3 replies
Hi all,

Saw a lot of threads here about getting past the GK to speak with the DM. In my case, I have been able to get the email of the DM (or so I think) from the GK. I have also gotten a first name as well.

They (GK) takes my information as well and say that they will pass it on the DM (so he/she knows to expect my email)

I made an online proposal of sorts. I want to make an expiring link pointing to it. I found one website that allows one to create a link that is good for 3 days but with advertisements Another does it for a maximum of 12 hours

If found info on them here:
3 Ways to Create Temporary Short URLs with an Expiry Date

Does anyone know of a better site to use for creating expiry links?

Also it seems that I have (at least according to the GK) the following:
-> DMs email address
-> DMs first name
-> Word passed to him/her that I will be sending a proposal for a problem

So - at this point, what kind of letter/email would you use? I have seen some interesting sales copies (that scream in red "Get it now before its too late", etc.) and did not want to send anything like that.

Any help, hints or advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

    Do you have statistics on results?

    My experience tells me you'll have to send a lot of these, maybe even thousands, for one to work.

    It's still an unsolicited proposal with zero buy-in from the prospect, and so I expect zero action on it. Nearly all unsolicited proposals end up in the trash.

    Remember that "web design" proposal you received by email (probably not long after registering that new domain of yours)? What did you do with that?

    Did you take it seriously? Did you read it?

    Nahh, you deleted it, didn't you.

    Where did you get this prospecting plan from?

      Thanks for your response. I see what you mean. I did not get this prospecting plan from anyone. I had seen that the goal was to get the name of the DM.

      The GK always says: "let me get your phone # and name so that he (the DM) can call you back". I ask for their email address and name instead thinking that the GK will just toss away the info I give to him/her. Each time I had spoken with the GK, they said they would let the DM know to expect an email.

        You are onto something here... If the gatekeeper is giving you the details I would cut the 24 hr timer crap.

        Hello Mary at the front desk I wouldlike to have a business discussion with.. whats his name? Oh Bill.. I would like to have a business discussion with Bill is he available? Hes not available? Can I get his e-mail and send him the proposal?

        And then the proposal comes...

        ONLY 22 HOURS 29 MINUTES and
        10, 9, 8, 7, 6, SECONDS REMAIN ON THIS OFFER

        REALLY? Think wingtips and a zootsuit with a fedora and be smooth about the presentation... save the circus antics when you finally feel the need to get a real job and sling hot dogs at the ball park.
