Blue Collar Millionaires

Has anybody watched the new series "Blue Collar Millionaires" on CNBC? I recorded a handful of episodes and watched them over the past few days.

Some really interesting business stories. I found it most interesting to see how some seemed to live above their means based on the revenue & profit figures given on the show. I realize some are probably taking a sizable salary as well as their profits, but dang some of those folks have a bunch of expensive toys and multiple homes. Now the guy who had a nice home, some toys, and invested a bunch of his profits back into the business & investment real estate...I can relate to him. Some of the others, not so much.

It is interesting to see the different kinds of businesses these people operate and hear their back stories & what drives them.

This is a common issue, people confuse the toys with wealth honestly is very difficult to know who is truly a millinaire (in terms of cash flow) because many people just buy expensive things with debt, and they are careless with their cashflow, when the cashflo change a little their entire living is in danger.

I recently re-read the book THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR, and it's still an excellent, eye-opening read.

Some of the businesses in the book are rather blue-collar in nature, and from the profiles in the book it's clear that only the high-consumption types who are poised for a fall would agree to be featured on a show like this. The low-consumption, high-savings millionaires who do extremely well long-term prefer to keep their success to themselves!

Just something to keep in mind.

I couldn't agree more. There are a handful of them that could fall pretty hard from what I saw. Unless of course, there's more to their business/wealth than what the show explained.

I enjoyed THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR too. Haven't read it in a long time. I remember feeling at the time I did read it that it emphasized saving a little too much. But overall it was a pretty good book.

Interesting and annoying show. I watched 3 episodes, an will not watch anymore. The way the people are portrayed is not as responsible quality business people. It's sensationalized to attract other low quality people who think being a success is about the flash.

Read the Millionaire Mind series of books. It is the real Blue collar millionaire. I say this because I personally know the Millionaire Next Door kind and the Blue Collar Millionaire kind, and have seen the reality of it.

    My 2 cents --

I agree about the glam side of the show but the details of other businesses is still interesting.
