Most restaurants are dead around 2:00 PM (after lunch rush) which leaves an hour or so before shift change (3:00 PM).

The store manager usually gets first shift which is the person that calls the shots. Any manager on night shift will usually tell you to call back & talk to the store manager on first shift.

So... my bet is call at 2:00 PM If you need to call.

Obviously each restaurant is unique (open hours, etc...).

Totally agree with you. Just went to close a few of my clients in the last few days.

Sure, If you want to hear a dial tone from a pissed off manager in the middle of a lunch rush.

My father was a chef for 30yrs, always ran and worked his own restaurants. He would always schedule to meet people 1hr before starting service since this was typically downtime before the storm.

2PM is a good rule of thumb for anywhere open for lunch.

I know it's not always practical but one of the best ways is to go in and eat..and then ask them after your meal.

I have done business with many restaurants. They asked that I come by at 10 a.m. After breakfast rush and before Lunch prep or around 4:30 p.m. This is the end of the post lunch clean-up and restocking and before dinner prep. It is also right before the owner goes home if he/she is not sticking around for dinner service and they often have more time to talk.
