12 Dumb Sales Questions (and alternatives)

I found this blog post to be pretty good.

Also, I had a recent experience with a sales call from a company that provides payroll and other Human Resources services. I was super busy at the time and the appointment setter was not clear about what they offered - a lot of industry mumbo jumbo jargon - so I set a phone appointment just to get him off the phone and get back to what I was doing. He did not do any qualifying.

They sent an email confirmation and after I looked at it and the company, I realized we are way too small of an operation for their services. They also immediately sent a second email and the subject was "Phone Appointment cancelled". I read it and they were just telling me the appointment would be with another rep. It seems to me this company wastes a lot of their own time and resources by not qualifying and targeting well.

I did email back to cancel saying we are too small and not their market.Their reply was "Sorry you feel that way." I don't think they will learn - just keep playing numbers and burning through reps because they make them waste their time and the reps don't make the income they should.

Had a similar experience... They require a minimum of $1500/month. That's not a big deal if you 'process' 100 mortgage loans using their system. But if your company only does 20 or 40 or even 60 loans a month, it's a biggie.

    They give 1 one-hour demo.

They told me at the end of that 1 hour that they want a minimum of 100 loans... At the very end!

They asked several qualifying questions, but nothing about our volume.
