list of JOINT VENTURE ideas

Hi Gang

Does anybody know where I might find a thread or a good list of offline business joint venture matches..

...for example: A plumber to boiler repair person, a gardener to a landscape gardener, a music teacher to a musical instrument shop etc.

Cheers
Phil

Take a look at any business directory, especially specialist ones. Typically businesses listed under the same category tend to go together...
Psychographic connections tend to be a little more difficult. Look in specialist magazines to see what's being advertised consistently, that doesn't quite fit.

Or just think logically about it. Would a person buying this, want this...?

Thanks for your help. Yeah, I've basically been doing that but my eyes are getting blurry through looking through hundreds of directory entries, so was wondering if somebody somewhere already has a decent list?

      Thanks

I think any list you obtain would be far too general in nature to be useful. The real deals are found by getting out there and getting to know the end customer, getting to know what they want and need, what their problems and dreams are...

I'd niche down. Select a few niches you'd enjoy or think you'd enjoy, and really get to know the customers, the ones buying. Far more efficient use of your time.

Plumbers and gardeners and such like are limited in that they only have so many hours in a day. I'd focus on products or services that can easily be ramped up.

E.g. if you could strike a deal with the P90x guys and someone with a list of fitness buyers, you could maybe sell 20, 30 40,000 or more with one deal. High profit margin, it costs pennies to manufacture the DVDs, so 20% of 20,000 * $99 is close to $400k. And if you have several list of fitness buyers...

You won't make that sort of money with a local plumber... :-)

      Hey Mate

      Thanks again for your help.

I can see now that I didn't really explain myself properly in my original post.

What I meant by "a list", I meant examples of 'types' of businesses that could be paired up to form long term relationships to pass business from one to the other. My idea being I would take the role of a JV broker who would set the relationship between the two, and then take a small percentage for a period of time of the referral fees.

For examples, a wedding dress maker which could pass business to a wedding cake maker...a person who mows lawn passing business to a landscape gardener..and so on...so I was looking for a list of ideas like this.

......BUT.....with all that said, maybe what you suggest is a lot better as you would be getting a much bigger hit of revenue in one go. This is more like what Jay Abraham does I think. Of course, the tricky bit of this is getting the people with the list. I think that people who would have built a list would already be doing promotions, so why would they need me to do that and give me a percentage...

....BUT again I could be wrong. Maybe there are people out there with customer lists but do nothing with them.

Interested in your (or anybody else) further thoughts on this.

      Cheers
      Phil

Just sit down for 10 mins and write it out....

If you cannot think of these relationships between trades, chances are you are not capable of making your idea work.

If you can't contribute, don't post, even if you are trying to get past your first 50 posts.

It appears he did contribute. Just because you don't like his idea doesn't make it a worthless post.

Some of the best jv deals are born out of your own experiences. Hell, I had a guy with a moving truck put my insurance office website on the back doors of his largest truck. We helped him out of an insurance bind in exchange. I didn't need a list to tell me that.

I bet if you follow his advice, you'll have at least 5 ideas in that 10 minutes. Of course, I could be wrong. It may take you 15 minutes...
