Lead generation growth

We have had decent success selling lead generation services (website based) to local companies through word of mouth but now am wanting to grow. We have tested some channels such as Google Adwords, Linkedin and Twitter but the costs have been rather high. Is this the norm?
I have written a few guides etc which we are giving away and hope to build a mailing list up but thats a longer term along with content marketing.
Do we just need to preserve with the existing online ppc or should we be looking elsewhere?

    Hi xpertuk,

So you want to close more local companies into your lead generation services?

For the last 3 years I've found Facebook to be the most effective method, with cold/warm emails to targeted lists coming in second.

With Facebook, you have the ability to upload an email list and advertise specifically to them. So if you have an industry you want to go after, obtain an email list and advertise to them. Offer them something specific to what they want and get them on the phone.

The greatest thing about this is that you can literally say "And I've already proven to you that we can generate high quality leads, because just 24 hours ago you had no idea who I was, but now we're having a conversation about growing your business. I've generated you as a lead!".

I wrote a post about this just the other day: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...h-4-steps.html

depends on whether you're using seo or ppc or both for lead gen.

    If you're primarily using seo:

i'd suggest picking 1-3 niches you've had success in already, and then expand it into other cities - once the calls begin coming in, hit the phones.

    if ppc,

same, except instead of expanding into cities first, hit the phones & show the folks how many leads they can expect per week/month based on your current stats before setting up the campaign.

    if both,

then use a hybrid of the 2 methods above. Begin seo, then hit the phones. Once you get client(s) for that city, fire up ppc & begin pushing seo more.

I'm a big believer in doing enough work to get a few leads coming in, landing a client, then putting the pedal to the metal in whichever platform you use to generate leads.
