I'm fairly certain I have followed all the steps outlined in Google to be found on google maps. My business has been verified, yet I do not show up on Google maps. I did all this more than 3 months ago, and as of today, there is nothing. Is there a step or hoop I need to jump through that I'm not seeing?
We are in a multi business area -- several businesses with the same physical address, differentiated by suite #'s. Could this be the problem?

The steps outlined in Google don't take into account competition.

If Google shows 3 companies like yours and there are 4, guess what? One of them doesn't show.

You need to optimize your listing.

Which means a lot of things... there are a couple of threads on the subject.

You not only need to fill out all the boxes, you need to get some citations, you need to "match' the website... You need more than what Google says.

What do you mean by "citations" reviews? "Optimize" does that mean keywords?
What we want to be found for is: Concrete countertops WI. We sell mixes, molds, tools, accesories..etc etc.

First, if you hit the QUOTE button below the post you want to quote, it quotes it in a way that looks like it's quoted.

Second: citation are references to your company that use company name, address, phone, website... Look for your company in yellow pages, manta.com, yelp.com and such sites. If it's not there, or inaccurately presented, take care of it.

Optimize: this is Google's definition: https://support.google.com/business/.../4454429?hl=en

Mine involves using keywords and phrases that are relevant to what you sell in the description, in the video description, name, url, and such things too.

If you're using a virtual office, there is a good chance you won't show up. Google isn't stupid, they started targeting virtual offices and UPS boxes a while ago.

My recommendation is that you call and do a manual verification.

Make sure to Post Daily to your Page. Get reviews. Add Keyword Based Photo's and Descriptions.
That will help...along with multiple Citations and Directories linked back to your Google Business Page.

Jlngalls. You're selling concrete countertops, so why are you trying to optimize (make your listing better) your listing yourself? Hire someone that knows what they're doing so you can sell more counter tops fast, rather than waste your time. There are folks in the directory business that will have you #1 by this time next week, probably sooner.

  • To rank well in Google's local listings, you need to have a balanced approach. For example, if you don't place well organically, you won't generally place well locally in most competitive markets.

I recommend, at minimum, doing the following:

    1. On-Site Optimization - Make sure all meta data is filled in, that you have a good schema, good content, and that the pages are properly interlinked to pass the link juice, etc. There are lots of great on site guides and checklists online.

    2. Google My Business Optimization - Make sure there are no duplicates, and that all information is 100% complete and correct. Keep it active by posting relevant topics. Make sure customers are leaving reviews.

    3. Citations – Create these. They can be generic citations, local directories, niche directories, photo sites, video sites or whatever. Make sure to use only quality sites and also make sure the business info is accurate on every profile.
