Giving back: The Truth about posting on CL
So I've been a long term member here on WF, and I feel a determined loyalty to the community here. Throughout the years since I've joined, WF has not only given me
knowledge but an incredible amount of opportunity. I'm sure many of you feel the same. The WF community to me is a model forum where, more often than not, eveyone provides sound advice. I myself have taken much advice in the past to move forward with my marketing strategies appropriately.
So today, it only feels right to give back. For the past couple of years, I've been exploring a unique opportunity offered to me from another member on this site.
He was an engineer who discovered how to truly tap into posting on Craigslist, as many of you know, this way of generating leads can be very lucrative. Though a little bit in the grey zone of doing things, I decided during the coming of my child that I needed to do what it took to make money.
And gosh have I made some good money since then. So when I saw that many people on here were asking about how to post on CL or how to find a good Cl poster, I decided to clear the airof mysticism and misdirection throughout the threads I've read. So from the knowledge of experience and the veterans before me, I present to you the truth about posting on Craigslist.
1. There are many ways of posting, but these three are the most popular methods: Hire a freelancer, find an automated solution, or use CLADGenius
2. Breaking down the three methods: CLADgenius is the most expensive and time consuming. It also requires technical knowledge to some degree, though in the end if you finally manage to figure it out, there will be no problems. Freelancers in general are hard to work with and don't scale up very well. Automated solutions are the holy grail. Many say they don't exist due to many scammers in the past. I would say there are a couple, but these guys utilize heavy OPSEC and are difficult to get in touch with.
3. How it works: Craigslist looks into many technical specs that many are not aware of when a poster decides to post an ad. They then collect this data and run it through a machine learning algorithm to funnel out spammers. I know this because I know engineers at Craigslist. To properly post on Craigslist at scale, it requires technical depth to really know what's going on.
You will need to overcome the following: browser fingerprint/ User agent string, Phone verification, and IP solution.
Browser Fingerprints: If you are not technical you won't even know where to begin collecting these things. An easy way to explain it is everytime you visit a website they know what browser you are using and what user agent string you have. If you visit this website constantly, they know it's the same computer/browser.
Phone Verification: Many purchase Phone numbers from various sources. Most aren't reliable as the numbers have been passed around. This is so that when Craigslist prompts for phone verification, you have the ability to enter a number and verify your Account. A phone verified account is golden, but not necessarily the end all be all of a PVA (phone verified account). Some PVAs won't post for various reasons including geolocation of IP or bad browser fingerprint.
IP Solution: Every computer accessing the internet has an IP. If you access CL using the same IP over and over again, they will know you are the same person posting multiple ads. The best way to go around this is to find a good IP solution to hide your identity. I see a lot of people suggesting HMA, etc, etc. DO NOT TRUST THESE SOURCES. I haven't read a single reliable source suggested from anyone. They don't work. CL knows almost all proxy providers and have already black listed their IPs. This is unless you can purchase virgin proxies from AARON itself, which is possible but you've gotta know the right somebody.
Finally at the end there's content as an issue. I've used scraped content in the past and trust me, CL knows.
So after reading this you're probably a bit discouraged. It's a high wall to climb right? So why even bother? Because there's a gold mine beyond this wall and I know from experience. Even if you manage to post 20% of your ads live, you'll make profit. In the end it's a numbers game.
A little known fact: Craigslist receives over 50 Billion page views per month. 60 Million of them from the US. Imagine the leads...
Anyways, I'm here if anybody has any questions about this or has trouble getting started or if you need to vet anybody regarding posting. I've had my time here and have come out great, so I figured I'd take my place in the cycle of WF and give a hand.
Cheers everybody.
