In a town of say 200 000 population. If a listing is in the three pack. How many calls would it be expected to attract ? For a plumber ?

    Probably 5-10 per month.

That might be right for a less common industry. It's hard to say without knowing what the client does.

A good rule is that more popular niches will generate 1 call per 10,000 population up to about 60,000-80,000 then it seems to be around 1.5 calls per 10k after that.

Then again, I've seen many examples that do much more than that...a few that hardly generate calls as well.

I'm looking at the viability of setting up lead gen listings and getting paid by per call or per job percentage. The niche I was first looking at was plumbers and heating engineers.
