How do I get the phone number??

Hey guys I have a problem that I'm trying to solve. Iv been generating leads for general contractors mainly promoting bathroom remodels and I'm giving away a free buyers guide in order to get them to opt in to my email list .

The web form only asks for there name and email and what I really need is there phone number so the contractor can call the lead. I know asking for the number on the opt in form up front will produce some results however what would be a good way to follow up with them and get a phone number once iv given them the free buyers guide and want to get there phone number after that?

I posted this in the main forum without many good responses. I figure I'm more likely to find real businesses here that have real experience. Thanks in advance.

The people who download your buyers guide come in 3 different categories
and each has a different value.

So before asking for their ph number,
you want to find out which group they are in so you give them what they want
    next.

There's those that are in the early days of research and discovery.
They want to be left alone so don't ask them for their ph number.

The second group think they are not ready to interact with the business,
however by asking the right question a dialogue will happen.

The third group want to interact with the business now
so they can have their questions answered.

Knowing the readiness of each group to interact with the business,
means you will ask the qualifying question/questions around when
are the readers ready to remodel their bathrooms.

This separates the groups into 3 different follow up sequences.

That's all I'm prepared to give out publicly because this was told to me privately
by a person who generated over a million dollars for a kitchen benchtop re modeler.

The line of really helpful questions rely on taking the email to text to ph
    very fast.

I would agree - this is great advice here! .. for sure!

Separating your leads into categories is a smart thing to do!

One thing that I would also recommend, is to ask the lead for their phone number after they opt-in.

You can Ask the Lead if they would like to be contacted about an offer or service and if they do, they can submit their phone number.

You can create a simple form that asks only for a phone number. Do this inside your Auto-Responder.

This way only those who are interested in being contacted via phone are going to submit their number. This would give you very targeted prospects!

Really helpful man thanks! Putting them into categories is something that didn't even cross my mind yet.

    HI there,

You could also set up a free recorded message line using an 800/877/866/855 (if you're in America) and simply direct the form-fillers to that with a teaser headline (5 mistakes, etc). Because you use an 800 number, you'll be trapping the caller's phone number automatically. Kall8 is a reasonably priced service for this but there's tons of others listed on this forum.

If you don't think your prospects will call an 800 number, then you can have a local number forward to the 800 number and same process happens, only the prospect thinks they're calling a local number.

One trick Tony Robbins used to use in his radio ads was to say, "Call and leave a voicemail now" but when you called you got straight through to an operator. Chet Holmes designed that (I think) and it's a little sneaky but at least you're getting the caller live.

    All the best,

    Sasha

That is what I call genuine help instead beating around the bush!

      • yes. great reply Sasha.

FYI - I worked for Chet.

Before the "leave a voicemail or email"

It would go straight to a live person.

I left, then (i heard new message years later)
Chet adapted (based on response rates and conversions probably) .

        currently, I use this strategy:
call back and leave your email, will send details, so they can review with no sales pressure, while I capture contact information, profile, and segment.

        hope this helps.

You can send an email for completing formalities online.
You can send mail for asking their phone numbers for updating them about your projects.

I know it's not quite what you're asking, but how about incorporating a click to call feature in your lead gen efforts. It should be trackable so you get credit. It's staggering how many searches are from mobile devices, and I think click to call can work from desk top. Then you or the contractor have the
number from caller ID - although I'd ask for permission to call back after the first call pending how it goes.
