Electronically Signed Contracts

I'm trying to unclutter my sales process. Right now, I have people print out, sign, then scan/mail me the contract. I'm noticing, that it could be streamlined with e-signing.

How many of you have had success with this? Any failures, or is it just pretty straightforward?

Thanks

I use 2 services, Adobe Document cloud and Docusign. At this point I woudn't do business any other way.

One thing to note here is that you may want to look at your states laws specifically. One of the clauses I include in my contracts is clarifying that there is NOT a paper contract as well. ( at any time tho the client CAN ask for a paper contract and you pretty much have to do it that way. - I have only had this happen maybe twice - and the clients were older in age. )

Most Libraries in the communities that I have lived have a free legal session day, and this would be a good place to iron out some of the details as to what you may need to include.

But other than that legal stuff LOL out and back while you are on the phone.. no paper chasing.. its so nice

Thanks for the tip about getting the contract tightened up!

I see Adobe is cheaper. In your experience, is there a noticeable difference between the 2?

Depends on the client. I do like Adobe, and for most I bet this would work. I do use it the most. There is a part of my business that is a bit more "Corporate" and Docusign works with "real" digital sigs better. but realistically who actually has a one? or better yet even knows what it is....

I've been using adobe and docusign but the problem is there are too many hoops, and it's more geared towards corporate users.

I would recommend a simpler site that gets the job done, and offers contract protection as well.

Contract.org is a great site to e-sign contracts for free.

    Echo Sign is good...

However, I'm a big fan of making it as easy as possible to do business with you. Your contracts should be straight forward, and easy.

I dunno what kind of price points you're at, but if you're at $3,500 and under for a project, you may just want a "Terms and conditions" section on your website, where they type in their name, and click "I agree" is suitable enough to protect you. Make sure it captures their IP address as well.
