Which is Best, Physical Product or Instant Download?

Hi Warriors! I'm getting ready to launch a weight loss product. Everything is set to go by this month March 18th. The product is a DVD, manual and CD. As you can see it's a physical product which will be shipped to the customer's home.

My question is: which do you think would be the best format for reaching the most customers? Physical product with digital download after the product is shipped. Or Instant download of the product? I know this should have been asked earlier but it's been in the back of my mind and I thought it would be best to ask here in the forum.

I would really appreciate feedback from those who have done both formats physical and instant digital download and have a feel of which would best best.

Thanks in advance for your replies

It does depend on what your market expects and trusts.

I'm sure the move is towards more downloadables but I sell a similar product on Clickbank asa digital product and I also sell the same product under a different name as a physically shipped DVD program.

The DVD's outsell the downloads by a long way at the moment.

I do give the physical buyers instant access also while they are waiting for the DVDs and I also give the digital buyers the option to receive on DVD for free if they prefer.

You should test with your product.

Probably the best is a combination of both and if you can afford to send a *rooted* tablet so they get a physical product and the ability t download your product then that would add a big incentive to the offer.

Tablets are becoming increasingly cheap and perhaps the perceived increase of value may swing a buyer in a highly competitive niche like weight-loss.

I work with some clients in the surgical weight loss niche so I do understand some of the motivations that work in that area.

Best of luck with your promotions.

    Kind regards,

    Ozi

      Hi Ozi,

thanks so much for your reply! could you please explain what kind of rooted tablet you are referring? Not too familiar. And I never really thought about the combination of both DVDs and instant downloads. That sounds Great!

I'm also thinking of shipping to other countries in the near future. Have you had any success with this method?

It's also Great to connect with someone who understand some of the motivations that work in this area.

Thanks again for your very helpful reply : )

        Hi Dale,

As for rooted tablets Sasha Lee mentions them in post #7 on this thread:
        http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...-campaign.html

As for DVD fulfilment to different countries I use Kunaki and it works really well.

I'm usually shipping to all countries they will ship to which is nearly everywhere except countries you probably wouldn't want to sell to anyway.

They are a automated DVD and CD producer and their price and quality, service is excellent. You do have to format your content correctly and upload the various components, covers inserts, disc printing design etc and wait for the files to upload which is painfully slow but it never drops the file creation, it might just take 48 hours to upload one hour of video content to their system.

You can print barcodes, production details etc etc.

They work on a low number pricing model where if you buy between 1 and 5 discs at a time the cost is $1 per disc and usually worldwide shipping for 5 discs is $10 - cheaper if inside USA and can choose priority if you want to pay.

That is why I do the combined method because I tell the client the DVDs will arrive in 7-10 days but I've already hooked you up inside the members area of my live coaching and you can grab the online training there right now and get started straight away.

Other services that can do this are Disc Delivered or search out Trepstar - they do DVD and CD fulfilment.

        Best regards,

        Ozi

          Hi Ozi,

Thanks so much for your reply! And yes that helped a lot for the tablet.. As for the services and prices for the DVDs that's sounds very good. And yes so glad you provided the company for CDs also as I do have one CD in the package. : )

Sound like a great way to get things rolling. I was blown away with those great prices too. I will be checking them out for sure.

Thanks again for your help Ozie! You've been very kind in sharing this Great information!

I would definitely suggest testing which one works better for you. Remember though, the physical versions will often have a higher perceived value versus a digital and may be less refunds on physical verus digital as well and other factors, so definitely comes down to testing which one works for you.

To give you an example, in one market i ran a test with a physical version versus a digital. Even though physical was able to sell 5 times digital cost no issues, found digital version outpulled because more people opted for digital and sold way more at digital version. One reason was price difference, but few other factors played imto it like wanted it today and could use it today to benefit and etc...

    Definitely Test.

      I agree with this post.

I've found that offering the DVD version at a much higher price than the downloads increases the perceived value of the downloads and increases the overall conversion rate
      from just offering the downloads.

As an aside: The old way of thinking was if it's on DVD and fits on one disc then split the content and offer it on 3 discs to increase the perceived value. I've found this to have a negative effect. I guess the psychology is 10 discs = a lot to learn before I can implement.
1 disc = It must be pretty easy to get started as there is less to learn.

You really must test this in your own niche.

One sales page with downloads only

One with downloads and/or DVD version

      One with just DVD's

Most people never test this, I have: and in my niche offering both is my best option, yours may be completely different. Test it.

    Hi fasteasysuccess,

thanks for your reply! Yes testing is a great idea and looking forward to testing a few things shortly here. Tell me what kind of traffic did you used to get test results. I mean ppc comes to mind but sometimes can get pretty costly.

I'm trying to find a way to get lots of targeted traffic but is not too costly.

Sorry for getting off the subject here. Just thought I would ask because of the test example you gave. : )

    Hi everyone!

Just wanted to post an update here about my product launch.

I had to switch gears on the product and take more time to bring it to market. It's going to be a while but as soon as I get ready for launch I will post here in the forum.

The product was not as good of quality as I would have wanted and for that reason I refused to post it here in the forum. The other reason is the product was in the health niche and i discovered later that the warriors forum is not a good place to launch it.

So I'm just making sure that it's the right niche for the forum and of top quality. Sorry for this delay.

    Sorry for the inconvenience guys!

Again, I'll post here when all is ready to launch.

    Cheers : )
