$50,000.00 In 30 Days...My Plan For World Domination (well maybe)
It was Susan, an old friend who I hadn't heard from in a while.
She was having a hard time getting her new business going. She wanted to design websites and SEO and some other stuff...freelance style.
So we brainstormed for a few minutes.
Here was my plan for her. Nothing probably new but something she might not have thought about.
I'll ask you to help with the plan in a minute.
A little background: Susan had been homeless recently and had finally gotten back on her feet.
The plan:
1. Start a local coupon book. Find 20 businesses to place a coupon (nothing new, WSO's have been written on this)...
...but here's where we got creative...
2. $197.00 to place a coupon (50% down and the rest when the book was ready to go to print). The book would be about 20 pages ($600.00 to print for 1000).
We'd give the back cover free to one of the most prominent companies in town just to get the ball rolling and also for social acceptance.
It gets better...
3. The first 5 that signed up would get 500 free postcards designed and printed ($30.00). They'd also get 500 free business cards ($10.00).
They'd also get a free website (done on wix or something similiar...we'd go with the first 10).
4. We'd do a Facebook page or help them with the one they had (first 10).
5. We'd give them a Leadpage (free) for their coupon (first 10).
6. We'd give them some free ebooks on every subject they could think of about business (free stuff from the internet...all 20 businesses that signed up).
Now the good part: Since she was homeless, we'd donate a large sum of the proceeds to help the homeless in her city. The coupon book would be based around her story.
I'm not done yet...
...we'd give each business that signed up 20 books. Each coupon book would sell for $10.00. So, each business would get all their money back if they sold the books...and get the benefit of all the new customers the coupons brought in.
My thoughts on this are:
1. Local businesses are willing to help a cause.
2. It gets her foot in the door.
3. Some businesses would want more help since the free stuff would just be basic.
Can I ask you a favor?
I know some of you are brilliant when it comes to offline marketing. Would you offer some feedback?
What do you think?
Myself, I think we have the start of something to work with here...I'm not sure but I think it'll work.
Maybe needs a little tweaking here and there.
By the way...she'd print 1000 books then when those were getting low print another thousand. They can do the print in like 3 - 5 days. The first thousand would help pay for the rest.
I know some will say there might be a problem with the design...but some could use Fiverr or something like that. She uses Adobe Indesign so she's got that covered...but I'm suggesting that for anyone else that isn't good at design.
I'm thinking it's a give give situation where the businesses get way more than they pay for.
What are your thoughts? Be honest! I'm not afraid of criticism.
I know I left a lot out of this plan...but my mind was all over the place when I typed this.
Any questions just ask.
I know coupon books are nothing new. I'm just thinking if we use these with a twist of giving back she'd get a lot of businesses wanting to know more and asking for more help.
I think we can make this work!
