Inbound vs. Outbound Marketing

I think I have the gist of what the difference is between the two, but my question is this:

For a new business, how can they effectively use inbound marketing? They don't have the rep to have people call them on word of mouth, so....what can they do?

    "Ewen, I'm using this title and the ad we created in dozens
    of Craigslist posts each week...the results are mind blowing."

    It can be done, when you know what you are doing.

    Well that's what inbound is, you use content marketing, content being leveraged in general in order to bring in traffic, which then converts into leads.

    I guess it depends on your definition of inbound, since some consider emails to be outbound marketing, some consider FB ads to be outbound...

    My belief is that it doesn't really matter. There's a reason why hubspot still uses direct mail, and cold calling and cold emails... they're an inbound marketing company, using outbound methods as well as inbound. The reason? Because it works.

    I would just focus on marketing... bring in leads. Don't get caught up in the rabbit hole of inbound vs. outbound.

    internet marketing = traffic + conversion

    traffic can be free or paid

    conversion is a bit more complicated, i would a combo of great copy and great value offered before taking anything

    but shit, thats the fun of it
