How would you promote a local workshop?

I asked this in the other thread, but maybe it got lost in the shuffle.

If you were presenting a local paid workshop, how would you promote it?

How long would you promote it?

Would you promote a paid workshop differently than a free workshop?

Last one we did we promoted via a client's customer list...

What is the workshop about and how long does it last? Think outside the box when thinking about promoting a workshop. Social Media and local message boards would a great start. Make an event on social media.

Sorry I pressed enter to quickly and didn't finish my post.

Use social media if you are on a strict budget, if you have a little bit of a budget get some REALLY targeted ads geared to your demographic, just the exposure can do wonders not just the clicks.

Go to local posting sites that have a lot of followers and see if you can get your workshop published on their sites.

    UGH.... posted to early again

If you have a younger demographic and a budget you can use snapchat Geofilters (they can get pricey) but would be good to target a certain area. Also just using Snapchat

Think outside the box and see what some other places are doing too.

    Doing a Lunch and Learn,

I would use direct mail and invite the perspective prospects to a lunch and learn workshop. To set this up you do a JV with a local restaurant that has a private room and an interest in getting new clients to try their food. You do the advertising for the workshop and the restaurant provides the lunch, like a soup and a sandwich.

The topic of the workshop needs to have a presenter that is recognizable and an authority in the topic. The topic needs to be interesting, well known and something that is in high demand.

    Free or paid workshops,

This again is dependent on the presenter’s authority and if he/she is recognizable. If the presenter is not an authority then the topic needs to be a hot topic that everybody wants to know more about.

If you have an upsell product then use a paid workshop and use the paid workshop fee as a discount tool to the upsell. Example: If the workshop costs $50.00 and the upsell is $297 then if they purchase after the presentation they get a $50.00 discount off the $297.00.

    Just my 2 cents, RR
