Hey everyone,

So im wondering if theres a better sales strategy than the one im using now

Right now i message about 15-20 people every other day on facebook and set up 1 - 2 phone appointments to discuss me shooting a music video for the person.

So in about 3 months of work i got loads of Yes's but only 1 closed to the point where we filmed (he still owes me money though, should have qualified)

I know sales is hard and business is hard but i got good at generating leads and "closing" like out of nowhere suddenly i was able to charge $500 a video and get it, sort of.

Should i follow up with everyone and bang down their door or is that too salesy?

Anyways, what would you do to improve upon this selling strategy?

My new strategy is to 10x everything, prices, actions, goals, i think this is my best bet to become really successful in my field.

? I am confused who exactly have you closed, you have done one shoot with no money, ? a long way from running to the next level just yet, close would mean money in the bank to most sales people ?

Investing in well made business cards is one of the most effective ways to get your business out there. Set your brand apart by choosing a unique design that reflects your brand values and creativity.

Funny...I haven't used business cards for well over 10 years.

How about setting your business apart by communicating how you solve your target market's problems?

OP, I don't see any strategy at all. My reaction to your post was, "huh?" All I saw was the same shot in the dark as last year.

How are you identifying people who probably need a music video?

      How are you pre-qualifying them?

Why aren't you getting them to approach you at all, instead of it being all outbound?

What do you do to set prospects up to understand why they need to be working with you BEFORE you ever talk to them?

Do you have a consistent sales process to take them through when they DO get on a call with you? One in which getting to Yes or No is equally fine, as long as you know exactly why you got there?

Are you aware of the exact number of conversations you need to ensure the revenue you require? Do your activities support that level of lead generation and qualifying?

What's your fulfillment process? How do you collect payment? How do you and the prospect know the work is done?

      THAT'S a sales strategy.

"How about setting your business apart by communicating how you solve your target market's problems?"

Yes that is a good idea, i solve the problems of exposure and promotion

"How are you identifying people who probably need a music video?

    How are you pre-qualifying them?"

I go through facebook groups and look for rappers then i message them and make sure they have an income and are looking to shoot a music video

"Why aren't you getting them to approach you at all, instead of it being all outbound?"

The reason is i was under the assumption that at the beginning stage of the game it should be all sales. I ran a PPC campaign, no leads, but it was very cool

"What do you do to set prospects up to understand why they need to be working with you BEFORE you ever talk to them?"

Well i dont really even have a presence for people to know about me, so i cant really implement this strategy

"Do you have a consistent sales process to take them through when they DO get on a call with you? One in which getting to Yes or No is equally fine, as long as you know exactly why you got there?"

i would say yes i do have a consistent sales process, i ask them some problem questions, some need pay off questions, give them my contrast principle close, and either they say yes, no, or ill think about it. My problem lies in getting the money while im on the phone with them, to close, so to speak, but i never know why the sales work or dont work

"Are you aware of the exact number of conversations you need to ensure the revenue you require? Do your activities support that level of lead generation and qualifying?"

10x everything message 50-100 people a day, set up 5-10 appointments for the next day. I am currently not taking enough action to fulfill that goal.

"What's your fulfillment process? How do you collect payment? How do you and the prospect know the work is done?"

My fulfillment process is to travel to where they are located, spend a day filming, spend a day editing, I should be collecting half while on the phone half when the video is released.

I know im in the same place as last year, i just really want to be a successful business owner entrepreneur

This is going to be frustrating for you, but I see a lot of excuses here.

      1. Does the talent VALUE having a music video? How much, before they hear your price, would they invest in one? What would they expect having a video to do for them, exactly? While they might like to pay the amount they stated, are they able to actually pay it? These are the things you need to uncover in EVERY single qualifying conversation.

      2. Get content out there...why talent needs music videos, what you do differently, how you help them get more reach, more album/track sales etc. Put it in a report, make videos about it, get THOSE in front of your target market. CTA to book a call with you.

THAT'S inbound marketing, and it costs you nothing.

3.You do not have a consistent sales process.

      4. "10X everything" is not a target. A target is "$2000 in the next 30 days", which in your case would be FOUR sales.

"As much as I can get" is no target at all, and the mind does not respond to it. That is how newbies think and why they never achieve anything.

In order to get a sale, you first estimate, then compare planned VS actual data.

The proportion will shrink as you improve, get to know your market, have better marketing tools, etc.

      For now, say 50 conversations (unqualified/pre-qualified leads) >>> 10 qualified leads >>> 1 sale.

      X 4 = 200 conversations.

At your current unfulfilled funnel estimation, you probably would reach the target I set--but you would be doing a terrible job of pre-qualifying, and thereby tire yourself out with a lot of conversations that went nowhere.

Later, as you improve, you might find you need 30 conversations to get a sale. Track your data.

      5. Coming back to the forum to share your plan and get feedback is great. I am giving you consulting for free, here. Use it.

I'm surprised you got any sales only seeing 15-20 people every other day. Get off Facebook and call studios.

You should be seeing hundreds of potential prospects per day

I didn't read any other posts in this thread, so maybe someone already pointed this out....

You didn't get good at closing out of nowhere... you were able to charge $500 for someone, but you're still trying to collect the money.

You haven't gotten good at closing at all.

Your new strategy of 10X everything sounds good for Grant Cardone, but 10 X 0 is still 0.

Don't let a false sense of accomplishment stop you from learning, growing, and actually selling.

The big problem I see, aside from the obvious, is that you're going after facebook musicians. A group that is notoriously broke. How can you get the people that aren't broke? Get off facebook, network with established studios, hang out at venues, and network your ass off. Even then, a good chance of failure.

Maybe you should look into videographer gigs with dance studios, schools, martial arts dojos for tournaments, etc.

If someone is hanging out on FB all day, chances are they aren't making money.

I don't want the OP to feel this is a "pile-on"...

    ...if I didn't give a damn, I wouldn't have engaged.

Pretty sure IAN feels the same way.
