Best channel for tour business?

I am a professional photographer looking to monetize my unique knowledge of exotic locations into a photography tour business. The target market is landscape photographers.

The first year objective will be to make between 72-98 sales. (1 tour per month, 6-8 people per tour). The cost will range from $2000-$6000 per person depending on location.

So my question is, considering the low sales volume I am targeting, plus the fact that this is a relatively high cost item, what are going to to be the most effective outbound marketing channels I can employ?

If you can also provide a ballpark estimate of the costs of a particular channel that would be great, thanks!

What would your approach be to building a local photography community? Do you think you could make yourself be the local authority?

Doing so would allow you to grow an audience.

People would then, even if they had never considered it before in their life... WANT to go with you. Just because you are someone who inspired them, someone they trust, and now you're offering this awesome chance for them to enjoy their hobby.

  • Ok yeah thanks for the ideas, but actually at the moment I'm looking for ideas of the most effective kinds of paid marketing, I should have mentioned that.

My local community speaks Chinese, I do not : /

If you are looking for guidance to find the winning lottery ticket then I don't think you find that for free in this forum...but I bet there are consultants here that can help you...

If you are looking for media kits that sell advertising then Google is your best friend...To start you off here is the trip advisor's media kit with their promotional pitch...

The only place to reach 50 million informed, educated and connected travellers who are actively researching and planning a trip right now. https://www.tripadvisor.com/MediaKit

I still think the authority avenue is the best way to develop relationships that will turn into clients. The National Geographic visitors are your clients. They love photography and want to travel to get that photo. You just have to develop that relationship by getting involved with the community...Best of luck...RR
