Good idea or Not

OFFLINE MARKETING

Hey guys,

Just wanted to run an idea past you, to see whether you think it was a good one or not, or even if you had a better solution.

I would like to take bookings on behalf of businesses that offer services such as Car servicing or dental work.

I would prearrange the hours that a business was available, then I would put a unique booking form for them onto my website directory. Then whenever someone put in their details to book the service it would send me an email about it.

At that point I would call the car servicing place or the dentist and confirm that they would like the take that booking. I would then email the original customer to confirm their booking.

What's your business model? How do you make money with it?

Where will you get your consistent flow of traffic from?

The mechanics of this are pretty easy. The rest is not.

  I probably should have put that I already have an online directory with over 1 million visitors a year for a few niche services. I was planning on charging a flat fee for each booking or a percentage of the sale price.

OK, something to keep in mind is the services you are connecting the visitors with are local. So make sure you have enough local traffic to make it work.

See if it's profitable first; then work on automating the connections.

Calvin, you're still trying to monetize this thing, eh?

One thing I'd consider is that most companies will already have their own booking system, and there are so many of them it will be a beast to integrate. Not only that, but if they have a booking system already, they will NOT be interested in adding yours.

Oh, and if they DON'T already have a booking system, they're likely small-time operators and more of a pain than they're worth.
