What business apps can't you live without?

They may be really simple apps, but I seem to use Google Keep and a voice recorder the most. I seem to have great ideas (to me anyway) when I'm in a position that I can't right anything down. A quick note in Keep or a voice recording lets me save the idea for later.

  Sometimes it is important to take pictures of emails,reciepts,bills,sms as a proof.
  Cam scanner is another useful app to scan documents on the spot.

For business, the only mobile apps I really use much are Gmail, various web browsers, NewRelic and the AWS Console.

That said, if you're trying to increase your productivity, you might actually do better by taking a break and putting your phone down instead of installing more and more apps so you can work more and more.

As one author wrote in the article, If You’re Always Working, You’re Never Working Well, in the Harvard Business Review:

In the age of the smartphone, there’s no such thing as “downtime,” and we profess to be happier — and more productive — for it.

Are we, though? After reviewing thousands of books, articles and papers on the topic and interviewing dozens of experts in fields from neurobiology and psychology to education and literature, I don’t think so. When we accept this new and permanent ambient workload — checking business news in bed or responding to coworkers’ emails during breakfast — we may believe that we are dedicated, tireless workers. But, actually, we’re mostly just getting the small, easy things done. Being busy does not equate to being effective.

I can also say from my own personal perspective, that my most creative time is when I'm away from electronic distractions, when it's just me and my team brainstorming around a table -- or even just me by myself taking a walk in the woods.

I agree - I just signed up for the gym so I could have a 1 hour tech-free zone each week day so that I remove myself from the laptop and keep healthy.

I don't have a smartphone, just one that makes and receives calls... Just what it was designed for... :-)

I also use the voice recorder function on it, about the only "App" that I find useful...

CamScanner for document scanning.

I do tend to take my laptop to my client meetings which means that I don't have to clog my personal phone up with business stuff so my phone is pretty clear in that respect.

That being said, my iPhone notes app never far from my fingertips and I'll spend some time towards the end of the day collaborating all my random thoughts and ideas into a workable format as that does get used a lot when I'm out and about.

I also use Any.do which is a 'to-do' list organisational app and it allows you to sort your tasks out into priority levels which helps to keep you on track for the day.

With so many tasks popping up each day, I like to have this reminder close to me wherever I am to make sure that I don't miss anything.

Apart from that, my apps are purely for personal use.

I often use Cisco WebEx Meetings . I found it on freepps . It's a very useful tool. It allows me to schedule and manage meetings, make records and also zooming and scanning. And of course Gmail and Concur (for business travel).

For commuting , I can't live without uber because it has saved me from a lot of hassle when I don't have a car available. For business management, I rely purely on Gmail,watsapp,and skype.

Slack! I keep in touch with my team through this app and I am not happy switching between different apps to see a note or proposal. This is the app where they can send me a message, an image that immediately appears, a document, therefore, I don't have to go to many places to be up to date with the things that they are working on.

This isn't really a business app but I communicate with my market through the Facebook messenger so this is something I can't do without. I think that it's always best to market in facebook. Friends and family are already there and one click away.

I can't live without googlekeep. Compared to other apps I've tried, like todoist for example, I don't have to upgrade to collaborate with colleagues. This is the feature that I really love. Plus, it is very easy to use and simple. You can also put images inside your notes and I like how it looks like a bunch of post-its on the tablet.
