Are you throwing away thousands of dollars of qualified leads...

Yesterday, got my third "Yellow Pages" this month. Much smaller than the old Ma Bell Yellow Pages, but still...this one from Windstream.

I asked my neighbors for theirs, they throw them out. Do you?

Cause if you do throw these away, you're also tossing out thousands of dollars of ready to buy prospects. I have a letter ready to go. Both email and hard old fashioned USPS way of doing things. I send the snail mail first.

It is a letter noting their ad, and I pull out the FULL PAGE ads, the most expensive ads, the half page ads...because these businesses have spent money to be in there, and we OFFLINERS may think they are throwing money away, and we know we can do them better than the yellow pages...

Have a prospect with the money to spend on YOUR offline services.

In another post I pointed out a way of thinking, about going after people with money as opposed to momma and poppa who get all upset on a 4 or 500 buck ad on a co-op postcard....why bother?

When delivered right to my door, is a literal directory of advertisers wasting money, and all I have to do is contact them with something better KNOWING I can do them better than the yellow pages and make a much easier sale to a person with the money to spend, and with the education of knowing they need to advertise...

it makes life so much easier.

So, do you keep or toss out your phone books? After this, I hope you stop and think when the next one hits your doorstep.

You want qualified LEADS for your offline marketing, handed to you on a yellow paged platter?

So many subcontractors/freelancers I could go any route...BUT...

I have certain qualifiers on my time.
I want to make one sale at approx. 2500.
It has a 1,000 dollar profit.
It doesn't have a lot of slop or running around.
I don't do anything but sell.
All "work" is handled by someone else.
I don't waste my time on mom/pop small places.

The yellow pages are one source of businesses which spend money on ads

Other sources include; TV, Radio, direct mail, busses, billboards, full page newspaper ads (weeklies) ... guys advertising on your local oldies radio program are spending THOUSANDS to brand themselves, get their names out.

All I do is walk in with an affordable offer: Hey, you're already spending big money on branding, now make your target market an OFFER.

We have a few ways to do that, but the quickest, easiest, fastest way is by simply offering to send a postcard to certain zip zones and we can drip it or flood it. Few things can beat a postcard to a given area as far as cost and ROI.

There you go. Take it and run with it.

Hey Gordon. This is a good post, gave me something to think about. By all means I love technology, but this is also good way to get qualified leads that's literally in your home already.

    Nice reminder Gordon.

Why search haphazardly for business when you can already approach businesses you know are prepared to spend money to grow their business!

I'm quite happy with people ignoring the yellow pages. After all, somebody has to chase after the wood pallets.

A while back, I came across a list of 25 ways to use the y.p.directory to make money. I've managed to add a few to the list.

    Freakin' awesome!

Hey Gordon, where do you have the best luck finding good subs/freelancers, if you don't mind my asking. Nice post. I collect lots of ads locally including those books.

Mostly my kids college friends, they grew up with the Internet, never not had it, always looking for a few extra bucks... HOWEVER, as of a few months ago, I don't mess with any ongoing services...except post card renewals.

Also, I know the local HS teacher who teaches computers and he knows "kids" who are up on everything.

Not big on FL, no one from WF (although I haven't really looked or tried) and a few from local craigslist. I like local.

Pure gold there. Another reason I like yellow pages is, it tells me which areas are most important to the advertiser.
Which areas they will pay a lot of money for, in order to reach prospects. Some are in multiple books.

If I'm paying attention, I also might learn who they feel is their competition.

    Every book tells a story.
