Renting Websites To Online Businesses

Question

I am interested in selling websites for local businesses that don't have websites.

I am wanting to build a website rank it locally and then go into the business offering to sell it to them or else I would sell it to their competitor...

Is this strategy still viable and what is a good price point to charge for a attractive website

Its viable but its alot of work. Id either rank videos and rent them out or start with a local directory, where businesses can list there services for free, then you can contact them and offer them videos, websites and seo and social media services. I also get clients from offering single social media promotions.

Most businesses want to secure more clients and if that means they have to rent a site from you to do so, they will do it.

What it really comes down to is what you want to achieve. Ranking websites takes time, months depending on the difficulty and even longer for brand new sites with no domain authority. Do you really want to have to wait that long until your site ranks before you go out there and start closing sales?

I tried this model when i first started out in seo, as it seemed like the best option and sure fire way to succeed, but it just took way too long and i didn't have the luxury of waiting for a site to rank before i started closing deals.

If you want to generate business now, i would avoid this option.

I've had success offering prospective clients a free site mockup then scheduling a meeting via Teamviewer.com and in-person (if they're local). I'll then present my custom proposal that is modified per their requirements and close the deal. It's not an overnight process, it takes consistency and product knowledge, but it definitely works.

This is a very viable strategy.

If you're confident in your ability to rank sites quickly and effectively, go for it. If you're not confident in building and ranking sites quickly...don't go for it.

    Use video instead...

Video is just easier to rank over a new url.

Once you start generating the leads or traffic from produced rankings, just simply see who wants more customers and leads and not to "rent this site or your competitor will get it".

"Hey, I have these people calling me looking for a plumber, but I don't do plumbing! Can I give them your number?"

    They won't say no.

Send them a lead, or customer from your site.

They'll have questions, and once they ask why or how these people are calling you, you simply explain your situation and work out whatever deal you want.

This way it looks like you're coming at them "giving" them something and not approaching them (a stranger) with your hands out looking for money.

It all boils down to what is going to suit your style of marketing best.
