How to market yourself without sounding like an idiot!

I always thought I hated marketing and used to be reluctant to put myself out there on social media and online because I wasn't sure how to make my point without sounding like a complete tool! Over the years I've definitely picked up a few tactics which make me sound less of an idiot so I thought Id share a couple with anyone that's just starting out and a little bit overwhelmed at the sound of their own voice!

Focus on your customer.
You read so many home pages and bios which are all me, me, me but flip that on its head. Make everything you write and talk about you, you, you and you'll be less self-conscious as each day goes by. I hate to break it to you this isn't about you, its about your customer and that's all people want to read about!

Educate your market.
If you try to focus your marketing on education rather than sales it makes you sound a lot less like the idiot you think you are! Educating people puts you as an authority and with that you'll start to respect yourself as your audience respects you too. Churn out How to articles and informative posts to take the focus off of your own voice!

Leverage off referrals and testimonials.
What others say about you is important to the success of your business, and if you don't like the sound of your own voice then use the voice of others. People who have used your product or service are a much more credible seller than you are, so create your posts and articles around their quotes and comments. Create a referral/testimonial form and ask your existing customers to comment accordingly.

Quote your credentials.

If you don't like marketing because you don't think you sound believable, always state your credentials. This can be worked into your copy quite naturally and if you're a little bit shy at talking to a wide group of people backing up your opinion will help you sound much more credible.

They are just a few of the things that I'm now in the habit of and I can pump out blogs and social pieces quite confidently now. If you're still not quite there, Id advise you pay someone to do it for you because there's nothing worse than reading someones work who doesn't even believe in themselves trust me, it shows and it will turn your potential clients in the direction of your competition.

You can do all you've suggested and still come off as an idiot. Pinky swear that it's possible to talk about your customer in any manner of ways, including idiotic.

Just promote your brand sign or logo by proving information related to your business to help out the people and resolve their questions. I am sure they will be your next customer.
