Critique my Cold Calling Script for SEO

Disclaimer: i been a member here, and i haven't cold called or did anything for my business in a while because i was busy handling something else in my personal life, now im in a position where i have a full time job, and im looking to be self employed and my focus is 100% on getting out and nothing more.

So i do search engine optimization, and i realize the importance of having a script, can someone critique my script and offer recommendations.

My target market is Construction businesses

Script Begins Now

DM: this is _______

ME:Hey, this is [name] how you doing ?

ME: The reason why i'm calling is because when i search for your business online i noticed that it's really hard to find you. With that being said, i see your competitors showing up everywhere and probably making a killing because of it, were you aware of this ?

DM: I'm fine, im set, or im working with a company who is handling that for me.

Insert Rebuttal here( i don't have a quick response, someone help me lol)

DM: No, i wasn't aware

ME:Ok, I understand you're probably busy, but do you have time later today or tomorrow afternoon to get in front of a computer to see how much opportunities you're losing ?

Check your calendar and have them write down the date. [have them write it down, because if not, they will forget who you are and blow you off ]

Script Ends

What do you think ?

I'm no expert or anything here, but I talk to about 60-80 people a day This is what I would change:

How are you doing? Of those 60-80, 40 ask me how I am and I really get tired of answering it. I want people to just get on with it. It's a waste of words. Every one says 'fine' and no one really cares how anyone else is. You're just waiting for someone to get their answer in so you can get to the meat of things.

Contractors are busy people with non-stop phone calls. Make it quick and make it a little more personal by including his area. Your second line is good, but what if you said:

My name is ___. I was searching for contractors in (insert area here) and I had a hard time finding your company online. -stop and let that sink in. It's likely a problem he didn't know he had.

and instead of, "Were you aware of this?" ask something more open ended. "Have you tried anything to improve your current ranking?"

That should give you way more information to continue a conversation with him and figure out how you can help out.

    Rebuttal:

I'm fine. Did you know that most people check our your online presence before contacting you? What do you think happens w hen they can't find you?

I have someone. What are they doing for you exactly? (and after he answers, you can follow up with how your service can compliment that or what you could do instead.)

I wouldn't assume he is too busy to talk to you right away - ask if he can discuss it further with you now. And if not, get his email and offer to call him back at a more convenient time. You can email a reminder and a good free tip in the mean time.

Thanks this is quite gold, however quick question.

Whats wrong with scheduling an appointment for another time to talk about it ?

Why would you schedule it for later when you can talk about right now? His interest is piqued at the very moment and he doesn't have time to mull it over and decide he isn't interested before hearing all you have to say

I'd get rid of the asking how they are and the diary thing, it's just giving them the opportunity to end the call and avoid you again lol. When they tell you that they've got someone working on it you could ask how long for. Then say something like "oh ok, was this the result (not appearing on Google) you expected after this amount of time?"

You've been given some good advice here, and you've got a number of threads with great advice from before. Stop giving people that you call an out and asking them questions like how they're doing and definitely don't give them an out by objecting for them and then asking if you can call them yet again later. Call them, tell them what you've found and that you can help, tell them how and what it will cost, and go for the sale. If they can't buy right then they'll tell you and you can then call them back later or rebut or whatever depending on where it goes. Maybe offer to do something like send them a report on what you've found and tell them that you can help them appear here and there and everywhere and get their email. Don't let them off the hook, and don't give them outs.

Stop dilly dallying on the phone call, and stop dilly dallying on this forum by asking question after question and just go call some people. THAT is where you'll learn, not posting here. You'll see what works and what doesn't, what people object to or inquire about, etc.

Lol, no reason to be sorry, just trying to light that fire. It's so easy to get stuck in that place where you mistake mulling things over for action. I've done it too, we all have, but at some point you have to just close your eyes and jump. I recently did something like that and the response has been phenomenal. Why didn't I do it sooner? Because trying for perfection is the enemy of the good and I did nothing. Learn from me, and others, and go get it. Today. Not tomorrow, not when the script is perfect, not asking people here the same basic questions over and over or getting caught up in some shiny object, but make at least 10 calls today, 20 tomorrow, etc. You can ramp it up and learn as you go, just get going. Otherwise you and I and others here just live our dreams in our heads and never in reality.

Focus on your target market. I consider the bottom of the 1st page of Google to the 3rd page of Google to be the target market. If you have never done much selling before consider giving a one month trail for $1/mo then bump it to $500-1000 the next month. If the keyword is too competitive and no difference can be made in a month then maybe extend it another month. You need to find a hook or something to keep them on the phone. Offering a month or two for low cost or free is usually that hook.

I don't like cold calling. You need a lot of leads if you want any kind of conversion.

I much prefer to collect warm leads.

From the desk of the great Grant Cardone, this is a cold call script outline he developed.

ME: Hi, this is _________ with (SEO Company). The reason I'm calling is (big claim). To be sure I'm not wasting your time, let me ask you:
    1. Do you qualify?
    2. What are your main issues?
    3. Why have you not done this already?
    4. Magic question - If I can do even 1/2 of what I've promised, would you make time to see me today/tomorrow?
Do you have a pen? Write this down (Your name, company, number and appointment info)
Other than yourself, who else is involved in this decision?
Would there be any reason you wouldn't be able to show up?

I paid $60 for a webinar and ebook around cold calls. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to use it in my current profession. Hopefully it works well for you.

I would think you should have 2 scripts, one for those without an SEO company and one for those with. The qualifying scripts would be different. Analyze your current client results and use that for your big claim. Example: I did in-house financing for small business and I happened to have saved $25,000 in one month in revenue for that company, so when I was talking to other business owners, I used that big claim because it was true and powerful. Then by saying, "even if I can do HALF of that, would you make time to see me?"
