Hi everyone. I am starting a discount card program in my area to use as a fundraiser in churches. I've never done anything like this before but would like to try it for some extra cash. The reason I picked churches is because I live in the bible belt and there are way more churches than schools and non profits. I'm kind of stumped on how I should approach the churches and what I should say when I walk in. I don't want them to think I'm there solely to pitch to them. I'd also most likely have to get through the secretary first. I've read so many great and creative ideas on this forum so I was hoping someone had some ideas. Any help appreciated!

    Hi Jake,

I feel you should focus more on the value you will want to give out. How is your community going to benefit from your program.

No one will just drop a penny for no use. Let them know how you will positively impact your community once the funds are raised; still bearing profit maximization in mind.

Thanks and yes you are right. I need to focus my script around that premise. My main concern is how to get to the person in charge of fundraising without making it obvious that I am there to sell something. I've read of ways to do this in a business but this is a different setup.

The person whom you are about to speak with simply has no idea of what it is you are even going to say, and such does not know if your selling something or asking when the next service is, therefore the only place that it is that you wish to sell something exists, is in your head, that's it.

So with that, it is simple, do not go into sell anything, (then it is not even in your head), but go in to genuinely help these people, that's it.

Now with nobody knowing why your going in, and you now go in to only do one thing, that is to help these people, by doing what you say you can do well, then all of the stress of looking like your selling has gone and you should be relaxed and comfortable with your approach as in being there to help these people only.

PS. Sell them in bulk to businesses as Christmas gifts, employee appreciation cards, or birthday gifts. Great to find a small biz with 20 to 50 employees and offer a bulk discount too..

Also, fellow Warrior ThePromotionalGuy has extensive fund raising experience, you might want to get in touch with him.

Thank you for all the information. It is really helpful. I will read through everything over the weekend and work on my script. Will post it here after. I feel like there is a really good opportunity for this here but there are so many blanks to fill in so I will definitely try to get in touch with ThePromotionalGuy.
