Could We Have an "Offline Marketing" Forum?

This isn't just a fad anymore, it's getting to be an important niche, something I'm getting passionate about. I've always been good at SEO and all the standard ways to promote, just wasn't very passionate about any particular niche.

I live in a place that's been hit hard by the recession but we have a particular draw that few cities can boast. I won't go into that but if you look really close over there beside my avatar you'll eventually get it...lol

My point is this, I've got a pretty good strategy for promoting local businesses, I've bought a few WSO's and got a few free and I search the "net like a mofo.

We need a sub-forum where we can discuss this topic, sorta like the Copywriting - Adsense - Mind Warrior forums. There's a lot of good ideas about this and they just get lost in the general forum.

Good Idea? Bad Idea?

    Hi

I think this is a good idea, and should be a good avenue for marrying the on and offline world. I read Kensters WSO Rags 2 Riches and he had one or two good ideas in there.

In contrast, do you think paying for classified adds in local/ national newspapers would be a good traffic generator for landing pages?

I don't know... I think that we'll get more feedback on "offline" topics if the discussions stay in the main forum.

Yes I think having a special section in the forum is a mistake.

Having a special section for a topic on the forum usually reduces the activity on that topic.

When the copywriting section of the forum was started all threads on copywriting disappeared from the main forum and the nature of threads started on the topic tended to become quite dull because "regular" people weren't learning and participating.

I have a forum of my own and I've noticed the same problem.

After a while people just gravitate to the section on the forum that gets the most action...subsections tend to get ignored for long periods of time.

In my opinion the way we design forums needs to be rethought.

Instead of all the subsections a format that makes more sense is:

      # A main forum where all posts are made and posted.

      # Whenever you make a post you're asked to categorize the post (you can have a lot of categories).

      # Each post has its category listed next to it on the main forum and all the categories are listed as sections in the forum too (effectively each post appears twice...in the main forum and in the category it belongs to).

Now if only there was a good forum software program that did that...

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

Dunno why I didn't think of that! Great idea. Email vBulletin and IPB or pay to have a forum coded that way yourself and go into the forum software biz!

Another point is, off-line forum groups seem to work better around 50 active players. (Seems to take 200 or so members to find 50 active ones; then find a way to dump the lurkers. ). Since every niche needs to be tested and that testing shared to work it out properly, it needs to be a pretty tight group. The 50 should be 10 'teams' that test 5 niches. in 120-180 days you have great recon on 50 niches. You may want to identify some who are as passionate as you and make a private forum with just a small membership. I think you'd get more accomplished. IMO.

The other option is to pick and concentrate on one niche instead of locality. That you can do individually.

The only problem I see with it is that people don't even look at the other forums before hitting the Start New Thread button. They just jump right in the Main Discussion and their threads have to moved by mods to the appropriate sections. SEO, Mind Warriors, Copywriting ... many of them just post it here without a thought about the sections.

Yeh, in theory it sounds smart to have an offline forum, but look at how many of the subforums only get a fraction of the views/comments that the main forum gets...

Hot Damn - Ask and you shall receive!

Just noticed the new forum and I can see I've got a lot of reading to do. I realize a lot of people didn't see the need for an offline forum, but it's soooooo handy having all these threads in one place.

    Thanks Alan and the mods!

So glad they finally created the sub forum. It's been asked for so many times before but the mods always deleted the threads.

Thanks mods, all is forgiven :p

Only noticed this sub forum today. Will have to check in more regularly. Now I have to divide my time between Main boards, this one, War Room and WSO's.

It's so nice to finally have all of these threads in one place. I think the offline subforum will be far more active than some of the other subforums on the wf.
