Favorite offline technique?

I thought it might be fun to share some of our fave techniques for either obtaining or servicing offline opportunities. I'll go first!

One of my favorite things to implement for customers is linking the social media that I have set-up for them (like a facebook fanpage for their business) to their website so that everytime they make a Facebook or Twitter update, it is automatically reflected on the homepage of their website.

Not only does this make their website dynamic with updates, it gives the owner a sense of control over their online marketing and they are generally EXTREMELY excited to utilize this seemingly magic solution. Customer have posted band updates, new menu items, sales and special online only offers like "print out this page for 25% of your meal for this weekend only" without ever needing to touch a thing (except their facebook or twitter app on their phone).

It's amazing what this little "value add" does in both results and customer satisfaction! Try it.

    Very cool idea Nic!

I've really found it helpful for clients to have their autoresponders auto-posted to their website.

To make this happen (at least with AWeber), just connect via PHP to the RSS feed they give you for your email blasts, then CRON job once a week to add the newest emails to their website.

If you get creative, you can also automatically grab keywords and use those for meta-information.

    Good idea, Nic!

My favorite way to get clients is by using email and direct mail methods.

I know cold-calling works to generate clients because I've been successful at it before.

But it's fun to test different email and direct mail campaigns to see how well they work.

Best of all, it's exciting to have businesses CONTACT YOU instead of you contacting them on the phone.

It kind of puts you in control of the situation right from the start

Good stuff guys! Love the idea to use all that autoresponder content as website content too.

    Any more ideas, folks?

My favorite method to get offline clients is to talk to them. I do not cold call. I make myself available to a lot of folks through community projects and them talk to everyone... I like people... I make enough per client that I do not need to beat the bushes every day.

Be friendly and look for opportunities everywhere.

    Cheers,

    Millard

That's a fantastic way to impress a client. He'll feel that his website is transitioning into becoming "social" in the real sense, and to some extent, it actually is. Great trick that! Thanks

I'm interested to know how it's done though. If on a WordPress powered blog/site, is there a plugin you use/recommend/know about? If not on WordPress, please help me on how to do it.

It's just a line or two of code that does it. You can get some for $5 on fivrr or something do it. There are also a couple of wordpress plugins that you can use that pull your facebook and/or twitter updates, but I don't use those personally.

Everyone loves "free", so with each service I offer, I try to include some incredible free bonus to offer them for signing up. As Frank Kern would say, "Stack The Cool".

My recent promotion is including a free mobile version of their website with every design package. Has been working very well.

My favorite offline technique isn't about service, it's more of a closing technique.

If I'm at Chamber (or something like that) and I'm talking to a business person - I'll try not to talk about myself at all. Just them.

I do give the conversation a bit of a push to internet related subjects, that way I can preframe myself. I'll give them helpful hints for their website before they even know what I do.

Eventually the conversation almost always comes back to them saying "We've talked a lot about me... What do you do?"

And my favorite thing to say is "Well, it sounds like you have a decent handle on your online advertising (which after what they just got done telling me their frustrations they're thinking 'NO I DON'T') so this probably won't interest you, but I (tell them how I benefit online businesses)"

I've found telling them 'they're probably not interested' before ever telling them what I do puts them in a much more receptive state... A bit of reverse psychology you could say. The person thinks "Don't tell me what I'm not interested in!" ...which of course makes them more interested

In terms of gaining clients - most definately referrals if done correctly.

Let me give you some recent examples from within my business. One of the services i have never offered is 'Google Places' listings. Reason for that is that i was not experienced in ranking them high.

Recently i bought a course on the subject which works like a charm to dominate Google places. I offered the service free of charge to 2 businesses. A lawyer and a baby scanning clinic.

The lawyer has put me in contact with 5 other lawyers (different cities or areas of law) and the baby scanning clinic has put me in touch with a Franchise of over 40 locations.

So yep, referrals, if done correctly can expand your business faster than you might think.

Depending on the business category, level of competition etc i charge between £500 and £1500 set up fee and a maintenance charge of between £79 per month and £350 per month.

These are not set in stone and can vary further on number of locations, size of business, other services taken etc etc.

I would like to add something that hasn't been mentioned so far over here:

Over the years I've made six digits almost seven total for offering businesses to handle events for them.

Events are a nice way to market a product or a service or just help with branding.

We handle big dinner events, parties or just nice sales events etc.

We charge companies either a a total that will cost them to hire our service from A to Z or we partner on the ticket prices if the event is not for free (a lot big brands organize free events of all kinds just to brand).

Seminars are a HUGE cashmaker to us, too, only can recommend that. For example one of my business friends has a dating company where he and his 5 friends coach people one on one how to find the perfect match. They specialise on wealthy clients and really nice one on one coaching.
I've made my friend the proposal to offer their knowledge to people looking for their help at this field that are not millionaires.

They created a raw workbook which we finished and printed together, one seat was at 1,000 bucks for the 2 day seminar. They handled all the content, we've handled the marketing to sell tickets.

We did this one event over 10 times until today and our number of filled seats is always around 200-400 which makes 200,000 - 400,000 bucks per event (sometimes more).

They think about only specialising now on those events LOL

          Wow!!!!!!

I know seminars are a big cashmaker as they have made me a lot of many over the last couple of years but i'm shocked to learn that people actually pay £1000 for a 2 day seminar to learn how to date

Congrats on the success of seminars in this niche.

          I learn a new thing everyday .

I have found offering a free video in exchange for 15 minutes of business's time has opened several doors for me. The great thing is that I create very very few videos for people and the appointments always last more than 15 min. My close rate with this is in the high 70%. I use an automated recording system that sends out the offer and if they are interested the call a number and leave a message with their info.
