Has anyone done this?

So, I have heard about people sending video emails to potential clients, I'm not really sure what's in those videos but I was wondering if anyone has ever sent a video of yourself to potential clients explaining what it is you're offering?

Has anyone done this before? And do you think it would be effective?

Hmmm...I may not open the video if it's in attachment.. virus alert you know.. but sending a video posted on youtube or vimeo might work.

I'm no specialist, haven't done this but thought it might help

Just that some people are very cautious you know. Using brand name like YouTube will look safe.

I think that videos should help, just like they help in online conversions on salesletters...

I just recently came across a product all about this, but it isn't sending a personal video, it's sending a free video critique of their website and what needs to be done. You basically show them and open their eyes to whats wrong and tell them that you can help fix it.

It seems like a pretty solid method, haven't tried it yet, but I think I will here soon.

    Olga,

I second the recommendations of uploading your video to a video-sharing website, such as Youtube. If you get a biz owner to open their e-mail, you don't want ANYTHING that might discourage them from clicking a link/reading more about what you can offer them. Because at this point, you are "on your way".

Don't just send out the same e-mail to 50 people either. At least mention something specific about the business you are addressing, address the biz owner by name if possible, etc.

Be direct. No hype and internet marketing terminology. Just "Hi, I am BLANK and I noticed that BLANK, and I would love to have the opportunity to discuss how I can help you succeed in this area. Let me know when a good time to reach you is. Also, feel free to check out BLANK for a little more information about how I help business owners increase sales through the internet in your area." etc.....

If you are doing a website review, just say something along the lines of "I put together a very brief video outlining some things I noticed with your website/internet marketing process, etc" Be sure to point things out, but do not get too descriptive either. And if/when you touch on what you would do to help them, do not go into much details here either. Keep it short and direct is key.

You can do it. - Jim

There is a company that is the leader in video mail. helloworld.com.

You only need a web cam or a browser and your mails show a little film strip that the user clicks on to open the video in a browser.

    No special players needed.

I set up hidden personalized videos on my site - being linked to by an e-mail to a potential client.

You don't necessarily have to place yourself IN the video... but it should be your voice - with good helpful content.

This is especially helpful for clients who might be too busy to do an initial meeting.

One of the strategies we use is to ask businesses if they would like a FREE video showing how we may be able to help them get more customers.

We usually do about 5 - 6 businesses in and around our other appointments. Takes us about an extra 10 -15 minutes - but really worth it.

Only had one of them tell us to "bugger off" out of 20.

Plus now have 4 clients from it.

BTW - we always do this face-to-face so that they meet us. Then when we send the generic video they hear us.

It seems to work as they already "think they know us".

      Regards

I've done video critiques of prospects websites - that's how I got 2 of my current clients.

I think this is more valuable than a video of yourself because when working with prospects, you want the focus to be all on them.

So sending them a video of THEIR business will be more powerful.
