Find Out How Much They Spend In PPC To GET An Advantage

Here is a simple trick to know how much that local business owner is spending on Pay Per Click advertising.

Some of you might have heard of PPC Web Spy by Brad Callen?

You can get it here <-- Not an affiliate link.

Right now I think the site is being hammered because I can't connect. That's usually because there are to many outside connections to the server so try back later to get it.

This is a firefox plug in that lets you spy on the PPC ads that are placed on Google.

You'll get some basic information like the keywords and what the Avg cost per click is and how many clicks they are receiving.

You can then tell how much they are spending daily with PPC.

Use this to your advantage because many business concerns are paying a company to manage it for them.

So if you find an ad that is paying 2500 month for PPC and you mention this to the owner they could have a aha moment. If they are top of their expenses they might realize they are paying 3500 a month. So you just showed them how much extra they are paying.

http://www.keywordspy.com is also pretty useful and their free version brings back the top ten results for various parameters. They have a .com.au version as well which is great for us here downunder

I do not think you should use this kind of third party tool ... hire adword professional for this so you can make sure paying exact amount for each keywords.

      You miss the point.

The idea is to find out who's spending money so you can show them a BETTER way to spend that same money.

If they end up not paying anything more for better results is a NO BRAINER for the business owner.

I've got PPC Web Spy. It can be a decent barometer for whether or not someone is spending money, but it's not very accurate. I know because I tested it on my own campaigns and the amounts weren't close (same with keywordspy.com).

Just saying, I wouldn't say to a potential SEM client, "So it looks like you spend $3,500 per month." You may have to pull your foot out.

With that said, it can give you a snapshot of the types of words they're bidding on.
